Department Overview

The mission of the Information Technology Group (ITG) is to develop, implement, and maintain technology-based services and solutions enabling OHSU to effectively manage information to accomplish its missions.

 

This position is a member of the Healthcare Professional Services Applications (HPSA) team and is primarily responsible for supporting cardiovascular and procedural systems, including CVIS, Pediatric and Adult Echo Labs, Cardio Cath Lab, GI departments, structured reporting systems, hemodynamic monitoring systems, imaging integrations, and endoscopy documentation systems.

 

The Applications Analyst is responsible for clinical application support, workflow optimization, incident management, technical documentation, asset management, application security activities, vulnerability remediation, technical project participation, and support of Application Engineers.

Function/Duties of Position

  • Clinical Application & CVIS Support
    • Serve as primary analyst for CVIS and procedural applications.
    • Support Echo, Cath Lab, GI, integrations, upgrades, troubleshooting, workflow optimization, physician support, testing, and regulatory readiness.
  • HPSA Operations, Security & Technical Support
    • Provide Tier 1 incident management.
    • Manage ticket triage.
    • Maintain documentation and wiki resources.
    • Support Application Engineers.
    • Maintain assets and configuration items.
    • Participate in security reviews, vulnerability remediation, patching, OS upgrades, operational maintenance, go-lives, and ITIL processes.
  • Continued Professional Development

    • Participate in appropriate activities that enhance general knowledge of or ability to do assigned work. 
    • This includes, but is not limited to, the following:  attend classes, seminars, and other training forums; attend staff meetings and other informational sessions; read vendor documentation, trade publications, or other sources appropriate to position; interact with peers and other employees to receive and disseminate information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and two years' work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and four years' work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR

  • Associate’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and five years' work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR

  • Six years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience where one year of experience will be substituted for an Associate’s degree and two years of experience will be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.

Experience

  • Successful candidates must have experience and working knowledge in operating system software, relational and/or hierarchical databases, and technical application support for administrative and clinical systems.
  • Experience in the analysis and design of systems.
  • Experience in developing specifications for system-to-system interfaces.
  • Successful clients must have experience in managing multiple projects.
  • Experience in managing complex customer relationships in an enterprise setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Healthcare Information Systems.
  • Working knowledge of Third Party Applications and stakeholders.
  • Experience in medical devices security and integration.
  • Experience in terminal emulation software, file transfer, and data conversions.
  • Experience in writing system validation plans.
  • Experience and/or training in one or more of the following health information systems:  Imaging, Cardiology (Echoes), Labs, Pharmacy systems, and EPIC.

Additional Details

Location of Job:  Hybrid. Remote and on-site OHSU main campus.

Shift: Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm.
