Function/Duties of Position

This position is for a Neuro-Oncologist clinical researcher for a joint program between the Departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery and the Knight Cancer Institute. 

 

Responsibilities include management, treatment, and follow-up care of patients with brain tumors; participation in clinical trials; teaching medical students, residents and fellows; inpatient attending rotations on the neuro-oncology service and shared night/weekend call. This position includes the opportunity to develop a scholarly program in neuro-oncology research. 

 

The outpatient program will be centered in an interdisciplinary medical and surgical neuro-oncology clinic housed in the Department of Neurological Surgery with dedicated nursing and APP support and administrative program leadership. The inpatient practice will be housed in the Division of Medical Neuro-oncology in the Knight Cancer Institute. The program will also access the clinical trial and biobanking infrastructure of the Knight Cancer Institute. The program is further distinguished by advanced diagnostic and intra-operative imaging and surgical technology. Primary academic appointment will be in the core training specialty with joint appointments in the other two disciplines.

 

Academic duties includes teaching at all levels in the care of patients with brain and CNS tumors, and engaging in scholarly activities relating to the Neuro-oncology subspecialty.

Required Qualifications

  • An M.D. degree/D.O. degree (PhD is valued in addition to requirements)
  • Oregon medical licensure or eligibility for licensure
  • Neuro-Oncology certification
  • Board Certification in candidate's specialty
