Function/Duties of Position

The Senior Clinical Research Assistant is responsible for submitting Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, modifications, and continuations for investigators within the Division of Trauma, Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery.


Responsibilities include submitting all human research protocols to the OHSU IRB, HRPO, and the State IRB for initial submissions, continuing reviews, and modifications. It is expected that this position will pursue and incorporate information regarding new regulatory practices such as changes to The New Common Rule and OHSU institution changes related to consent processes or language, IRB study submissions, and OHSU Partners submissions. 


This position will also assist with setting up projects in eCRIS, submitting clinical trials to ClinicalTrials.gov, and preparing and submitting INDs to the FDA.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant work experience; OR Associate's degree and three years of relevant work experience; OR four years of relevant work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Meticulous detail to data and study procedures
  • Ability to prioritize work demands and trouble shoot
  • Ability to work independently in a multi-task environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and research study methods    
  • Experience working with HRPO, eCRIS, FDA
  • Experience with Institutional Review Boards (IRBs)
