Customer Service: Provide the highest level of customer service to both external customers (patients and their families, referring providers, insurance carriers, etc.) and internal customers (OHSU health care providers and staff) that meet or exceed the service standards of the health care industry. This duty includes prompt and professional communication efforts, face-to-face customer contact skills, crisis management, facility with available information technology, standard complaint processing, flexible coverage of internal service needs and the continuous application of process improvement methods and skills.   Surgery Scheduling: Schedule new surgical and clinical appointment via EPIC Cadence. Arrange wheelchairs, interpreters, and transportation when necessary and accommodates other special needs whenever possible. Prepares and mails information packets to patients. Notify patients of appointments via telephone and mail. Make confirmation calls and send out appointment reminders. Make special arrangements with families for teleconferences as needed. Secures pertinent outside medical records prior to appointments including hard copies of appropriate diagnostics. Schedule diagnostic studies to be done at facilities inside and outside of OHSU. Arrange for transfers of patients from outside hospitals via the transfer center, per surgeon instructions. Develop and maintain working relationships with the referring physician and their staff to insure a smooth referral process. Participate in meetings and committees as requested to improve patient care processes and procedures.   Managed Care: Gather/Verify patient and guarantor information including demographics, insurance coverage, and financial status; confirm patient eligibility and benefits for health care coverage directly with the carrier via electronic database, phone, fax or email; clarify any managed care arrangements; obtain authorizations for clinical care, surgeries, procedures and laboratory studies. Enter all authorizations, referral and benefit information accurately into EPIC Cadence and EARL. Follows up on pending authorizations until they are obtained. Works with manager to resolve any denials related to authorization/enrollment issues in a timely manner.   Follow up on referrals for future appointments. Attend monthly managed care meetings and share information with staff. Serve as liaison and information resource for physicians, nursing support, coworkers, referring physicians, etc. on insurance authorization requirements. Determine appropriate TOS payment amounts (including co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles, deposits, prepayments, etc.) and arrange for their collection at the time of service. Arrange for T&C forms, NCCF, etc. to be completed by patient and submit as appropriate. Apply problem solving skills and negotiation skills in resolving patient concerns and managed care related problems. Follow up on UMG denials as requested by manager. Perform other miscellaneous tasks relating to the managed care processes at OHSU.   Process Incoming referrals: Process all incoming referrals both internal and external using the department of Urology’s Referral Matrix. Gather all pertinent medical records for consultation. Direct referrals to medical personnel on medical review and scheduling recommendations. Communicate with referring providers on authorization and other arrangement that need to be made in order consult with the patient. Telecommunications: Triage incoming calls and route callers to appropriate provider, staff or resource; accurately document and relay any messages; process any requests for medication refills as directed by provider; direct calls of complaint, requests for information, urgent health care concerns and general inquiries to the appropriate source.   Other Duties As Assigned.

CEDAR is hiring a talented, motivated and highly interactive Senior Research Associate to participate in our growing electron microscopy (EM) research portfolio. You will use and expand on existing imaging pipelines—from sample preparation, to imaging, to post-processing of 2- and 3-dimensional light and electron microscopy datasets—to identify changes in cellular signaling networks that accompany cancer progression and drug resistance in model systems and clinical specimens.   A background in high-resolution EM is necessary, in particular, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Focused Ion Beam (FIB-SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Development and innovation of multi-modal imaging techniques and analyses, i.e. correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM), will be a central theme of projects. You will be working closely with an interdisciplinary team of biologists, engineers, microscopy experts, and computer scientists to characterize model cancer systems, clinical specimens, “lab-on-a chip” devices, and novel biotechnology using traditional 2D EM and volume EM.   This position requires comfort using commercially available software (Amira, Dragonfly, ImageJ, WebKnosses, Napari) and custom-built, deep-learning based software packages to help enable the large-scale image analysis of large EM datasets. Wet lab experience with respect to handling biological specimens and hazardous chemicals is needed. Experience with Python and knowledge of additional imaging modalities, such as confocal, light sheet, multiplexed immunofluorescence and super resolution fluorescence microscopy would be a bonus.   Applicants without a demonstrated track record of professional research outputs post-doctoral degree will be considered at the Research Associate level.

The primary purpose of the Lab Manager is to provide oversight of the Tworoger Lab and its staff members, working conjointly with Dr. Shelley Tworoger on research projects as assigned, with a focus on women’s health and cancer. OHSU's Inventory Strategy & Program Management - Continually monitor resources, processes, and procedures of inventory strategy & program management for OHSU. Oversees the $6.3 million of Macadam Warehouse inventory processes to procure and stock appropriate levels of necessary supplies to ensure continuity of the supply chain. Collaborates with OHSU medical supply distributor, Purchasing, and other departments to convert, substitute and acquire new products. Responsible for having expert knowledge on the JIT/LUM program, ParEx, Pyxis, ParKing, IPA, PickPro, and Home systems. Accountable for making inventory decisions on product changes and cost-savings initiatives as requested by the OHSU Value Analysis Committee. Manages tracks coordinates inventory that is in storage at our offsite storage location in North Portland. Inventory is being added and subtracted to this location weekly. Process Control & Project Management - Responsible for overseeing and improving departmental processes and ensuring that each operates efficiently and effectively. Works closely with PeriOp, the Distribution Manager, Customer Service Manager, and Linen/Surgery Supervisor to develop and implement processes, standards, and improvement initiatives, which will ensure that the Logistics warehouse is following best practices in the entire supply chain. The nurse navigator coordinates the care for the patient prior to the patient’s first consult visit at OHSU.  This position will work with sarcoma team to develop standard metrics, identify patient barriers, coordinate smooth transitions of care, and to be available for team members in gathering data for new patients that will allow the team to create a plan of care at the patient’s first visit and, through the work up phase of their disease. An Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN) at OHSU is a professional RN with oncology-specific clinical knowledge who offers individual assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to help overcome healthcare system barriers.  Using the nursing process, an ONN provides education and resources to facilitate informed decision-making and timely access to quality health and psychosocial care as they approach their first visit.   This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for all navigated patients within the disease specialties they cover and will thoroughly hand off care (verbally and in EMR documentation) to providers and nurses assuming care of the patient. The hand off point varies by specialty.
