Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research): This position provides primary clinical care in the Center for Women’s Health primary care clinic. This position works with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive primary care to women, both adult and adolescent. This care may expand to male patients. This faculty member is expected to provide an outstanding level of clinical performance. The expectation is that clinical performance be delivered in a manner that is compliant with appropriate regulations and guidelines (JCAHO, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, and all other state, federal, and institutional regulatory guidelines).   Scholarly Activities (research/writing, abstracts, grant supported work, presentations, etc.): Like all OHSU OB/Gyn faculty members, advanced practice providers are expected to have some scholarly activity, this may be limited to educating learners as outlined below, but may also include research, and other grant supported work or academic papers and presentations in disciplines related to their field of expertise. APP faculty members are often called upon to partner with other providers and members of the department or division research support staff in research activity. APP faculty members are expected to participate in clinical research as needed, often with the help of trained research support staff and senior faculty principal investigators.   Education (include types of teaching and types of student taught): This position provides clinical education to fellows, residents, and medical students participating in either OB/Gyn, Internal Medicine or Family Medicine rotations. As part of the multidisciplinary team charged with educating learners in the OB/Gyn or Primary Care environment, this person would be expected to provide feedback and evaluation, both formally and informally, of learners working in the CWH Primary Care Clinic. This person would also be expected to provide feedback and guidance in the continuing development and improvement of educational programs in OB/Gyn and possibly in primary care educational programs. Administrative Activities: As an OHSU faculty member this person would be required to participate in faculty meetings at the division and department level. The Research Assistant 2 will support the ongoing and newly funded research projects of the Axthelm Laboratory at the Oregon National Primate Research Center of OHSU. The incumbent will perform a variety of hands on procedures with non-human primates (NHPs) and may assist with and perform technical and laboratory procedures. The applicant may work in concert with other laboratory staff on the West Campus to accomplish a variety of hands-on procedures with NHPs such as collecting and processing tissues, phlebotomy, administrating experimental compounds/ anti-retroviral drugs/ medications, and monitoring of NHPs during procedures as dictated by study design. They may provide technical and administrative support for a range of projects, prepare data sets and reports, coordinate with surgical and clinical teams, and regulatory documentation as applicable. They will be responsible for general lab support duties, including maintenance of laboratory supplies/ equipment, sample collection preparation, sample storage and organization, and sanitation. The Axthelm Laboratory also has a strong emphasis on supporting pathology and necropsy for research purposes. The Research Nurse is responsible for the clinical research activities for cardiomyopathy clinical research studies conducted at the OHSU Knight Cardiovascular Institute in the Department of Cardiology. The Research Nurse works collaboratively with other staff and provides services, as assigned by the clinical trials leadership team and/or the cardiomyopathy section head, in furtherance of the university’s mission and goals. The primary objectives of this position are to recruit, screen, monitor and document the subjects’ responses to clinical trial interventions. The Research Nurse provides monitoring and clinical expertise to ensure protocol adherence and accurate data collection. The Research Nurse will be responsible for administering investigational products through different routes including intravenous infusions, and in certain cases gene therapy or gene editing investigational products. The Program Director must administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating the residents in each of the ACGME competency areas. The Program Director must: - oversee and ensure the quality of didactic and clinical education in all sites that participate in the program; - approve a local director at each participating site who is accountable for resident education; - approve the selection of program faculty as appropriate; - evaluate program faculty and approve the continued participation of program faculty based on evaluation; - monitor resident supervision at all participating sites; - oversee development and execution of a comprehensive curriculum that meets the specialty requirements for training in that specialty, including overall goals and rotation-specific goals and objectives. - oversee development and execution of a competency-based evaluation system to monitor the progress of individual residents throughout the program. - continue implementation process of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) program - ensure that faculty evaluates resident performance for each educational experience and documents the evaluation. - ensure that the program completes and documents a formal systematic evaluation of the program at least annually, specifically assessing the effectiveness of the program in meeting the overall goals of training in that specialty. Ensure that the attributes of the residency program are explicitly defined: resident performance, program quality, faculty development, graduate performance. - develop program-specific policies as discussed in the ACGME Institutional Requirements for selection, evaluation, and promotion of residents, disciplinary action, and supervision of residents. - prepare and submit all information required and requested by the ACGME, including but not limited to the program information forms and annual program resident updates to the ADS, and ensure that the information submitted is accurate and complete; - provide each resident with documented semiannual evaluation of performance with feedback; - ensure compliance with grievance and due process procedures as set forth in the Institutional Requirements and implemented by the sponsoring institution; - provide verification of residency education for all residents, including those who leave the program prior to completion; implement policies and procedures consistent with the institutional and program requirements for resident duty hours and the working environment, including moonlighting, and, to that end, must: - distribute these policies and procedures to the residents and faculty; - monitor resident clinical and education work hours, according to sponsoring institutional policies, with a frequency sufficient to ensure compliance with ACGME requirements; - adjust schedules as necessary to mitigate excessive service demands and/or fatigue; and, - if applicable, monitor the demands of at-home call and adjust schedules as necessary to mitigate excessive service demands and/or fatigue. - monitor the need for and ensure the provision of back up support systems when patient care responsibilities are unusually difficult or prolonged; create contingency plans for unexpected absences due to illness, inclement weather, bereavement, family leave, etc, and assist with communication to site directors, faculty, and trainees as needed. - comply with the sponsoring institution’s written policies and procedures, including those specified in the Institutional Requirements, for selection, evaluation and promotion of residents, disciplinary action, and supervision of residents; - be familiar with and comply with ACGME and Review Committee policies and procedures as outlined in the ACGME Manual of Policies and Procedures; - obtain review and approval of the sponsoring institution’s GMEC/DIO before submitting to the ACGME information or requests for the following: - all applications for ACGME accreditation of new programs; - changes in resident complement; - major changes in program structure or length of training; progress reports requested by the Review Committee; - responses to all proposed adverse actions; - requests for increases or any change to resident duty hours; - voluntary withdrawals of ACGME-accredited programs; - requests for appeal of an adverse action; - appeal presentations to a Board of Appeal or the ACGME; and, - proposals to ACGME for approval of innovative educational approaches. - obtain DIO review and co-signature on all program information forms, as well as any correspondence or document submitted to the ACGME that addresses: - program citations, and/or - request for changes in the program that would have significant impact, including financial, on the program or institution. - devote his or her principal effort to the program. - designate other well-qualified surgeons to assist in the supervision and education of the residents; - be responsible for all clinical assignments and input into the teaching staff appointments at all sites; - ensure that conferences should be scheduled to permit resident attendance on a regular basis, and resident time must be protected from interruption by routine clinical duties. Document of attendance by 75% of residents at the core conferences must be achieved; and, - ensure that the following types of conferences must exist within a program: - a course or a structured series of lectures that ensures education in the basic and clinical sciences fundamental to surgery, including technological advances that relate to surgery and the care of patients with surgical diseases as well as education in critical thinking, design of experiments and evaluation of data; - regular organized clinical teaching, such as grand rounds, ward rounds, and clinical conferences; - a weekly morbidity and mortality or quality improvement conference. - along with the physician faculty, assess the technical competence of each resident. - ensure that each resident has met all requirements for American Board of Surgery eligibility.

The Layton Aging & Alzheimer’s Center in the Department of Neurology at Oregon Health & Science University seeks a post-doctoral researcher.   This position will support an ongoing NIA-funded R01 (Kevin Duff: PI) that is examining short-term practice effects on cognitive tests and measures of daily functioning in older adults with intact and impaired cognition. This position will also assist with analyses of previously completed projects and ongoing center projects, dissemination of those findings, data collection for ongoing projects, and supervision of research staff. We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher with an interest in cognition in later life, neuropsychological research, and Alzheimer’s disease.   This position is anticipated to last 1.5 - 3 years to allow adequate time for the researcher to integrate with the team, understand the available data, and generate and submit multiple manuscripts on these projects.   Current research projects a post-doctoral scholar could be involved with include the following: - Practice Effects of Daily Functioning Across the Alzheimer’s Disease Spectrum (PFX): This is an ongoing NIA-funded R01 to examine short-term practice effects on cognitive and daily functioning tests in older adults with intact or impaired cognition. - Amyloid Positivity and Practice Effects (APPE): This is a recently completed NIA-funded R01 that examined short-term practice effects on cognitive tests and how they relate to various biomarkers of Alzheimer’s disease. - Validation of Video Administration of a Modified UDSv3 Cognitive Battery (VCog): OHSU is 1 of 11 sites for this ongoing NIA-funded R01 to examine if video administration of the UDS cognitive battery is as accurate as in-person administration. - Healthy Aging & Alzheimer’s Research Program (HARP): This is OHSU’s longitudinal cohort of intact and impaired older adults who receive the UDS cognitive battery (and other measures) as part of their participation in the National Alzheimer’s Coordinating Center.
