Clinical: This position is in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, with a secondary appointment in the Division of Medical Oncology.   This position will help to provide both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation care in non-surgical clinics for patients as they navigate recovery from cancer treatment. They will help patients to assess condition, needs and expectations to develop a treatment plan that meets their rehabilitation needs. As OHSU is developing a new inpatient PM&R consultation service we expect this appointee to participate in both general and oncologic rehabilitation initial consultations. The ongoing outpatient rehabilitation care will focus on building a cancer focused rehabilitation clinic as well as growing our general rehabilitation clinics. This position will work with the both the PM&R Section and the Division of Medical Oncology to determine a clinical schedule that will help meet the needs of both the inpatient and outpatient population. The inpatient versus outpatient split can be adjusted over time to best fit the clinical need. This position will be expected to take daytime consults, but no overnight call. Preference given to applicants who have completed a PM&R Oncology Rehabilitation fellowship.   Education: Teaches trainees and support staff in their area of professional expertise. Teaching is done through assigned lectures to be given during the course of the year and through teaching in the course of performing their own job by modeling best practices, mentoring trainees, guiding learning through delegating graduated and focused levels of responsibility. Assistant Professors have a demonstrated competence in teaching and are knowledgeable about relevant guidelines from all applicable regulating bodies. (E.g. ACGME competencies for clinical faculty).   Research: May maintain a program of scholarly research activity directed toward improved understanding of the complex rehabilitation needs after a diagnosis of cancer. May develop and direct scholarly research activities focused toward improving the educational foundation within the Knight Cancer Institute. May engage in public service through consultative activities with OHSU and non-University groups as approved by the Chair. May also participate in additional departmental or hospital administration as approved by the Chair.   Administration: Administrative and other duties may be assigned based on Department needs and areas of expertise and interest. The clinical embryologist will posses all-around clinical and research skills and  knowledge required for the Center for Embryonic Cell & Gene Therapy (CECGT) and will be responsible for independently contributing to and participating in ongoing human and animal embryology related research projects. The employee possesses an exceptional command of knowledge in the field of clinical embryology, genetics, cell culture, molecular biology, and stays current in these ever-changing fields.   The employee will perform research which will involve using mouse, monkey and human gametes, embryos, pluripotent cells and various tissues. The responsibilities include overseeing:  research planning and conduct all embryology experiments; establishing of novel IVF research techniques and maintain equipment such that the Center remains on the leading edge of embryology. Staffing the Columbia Memorial Hospital Emergency Department as assigned by the Chair; participation in education of medical and paramedic students, house staff and nurses; participating in Emergency Department quality assurance activities.

The fellow will gain significant operative experience in all aspects of gender-affirming surgery and is expected to have prior ample experience in microsurgical, craniofacial and aesthetic surgery. Approximately 1 day a week is spent in the outpatient setting seeing patients in clinic, the other 4 days are spent in the operating room. 5 full time fellowship faculty specializing in gender-affirming surgery (3 plastic surgeons and 2 urologists) provides a robust surgical volume. The fellow is required to attend the weekly Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery teaching conference and will present once a year and will also attend monthly multidisciplinary transgender health conference. Complications will be presented at the Surgical Mortality and Morbidity Conference (M&M). The fellow will be provided support to attend the annual USPATH or WPATH conference. If a podium or poster presentation is accepted, the fellow may provided with the opportunity to attend an additional annual conference. The fellow participates in the education and training of medical students, house staff, and the regional medical community. The fellow will take general plastic surgery call at OHSU or community partner hospitals up to approximately 3-4 days a month and 1 weekend every two months.

Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research): This position works with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to urogynecology patients. This position will require expertise in clinical practice and administration within the full range of urogynecology outpatient services. The spectrum of care includes but is not limited to: overactive bladder and incontinence, painful bladder/interstitial cystitis, prolapse not yet evaluated by Gynecologist (i.e. referrals from PCPs), constipation, recurrent UTIs, pessary fittings and maintenance, bladder instillations, urodynamics, Genitourinary syndrome of Menopause with support for NAMS certification, and sexual dysfunction.   Scholarly Activities (research/writing, abstracts, grant supported work, presentations, etc.): Like all OHSU faculty members, advanced practice providers are expected to have some scholarly activity, this may be limited to educating learners as outlined below, but may also include research, and other grant supported work or academic papers and presentations in disciplines related to their field of expertise. APP faculty members are expected to participate in clinical research as needed, often with the help of trained research support staff and senior faculty principal investigators.   Education Activities (include types of teaching and types of student taught): This position provides clinical education to fellows, residents, and medical students participating in OB/GYN rotations. As part of the multidisciplinary team charged with educating learners in the urogynecology environment this person would be expected to provide feedback and evaluation, both formally and informally, of learners working in urogynecology. This faculty member will provide education and feedback to students and trainees.   Administrative Activities: As an OHSU faculty member, this position will be required to participate in faculty meetings at the division and department level. Imaging - Operates multi-slice CT Scanners to perform exams with accuracy and efficiency, using optimal skills and knowledge of equipment. - Demonstrates knowledge and skill to evaluate anatomy and any related pathologies for presentation to the Radiologist. - Demonstrates knowledge and skill in CT physics & Radiation Safety. - Exercises responsible judgment in recognizing and reporting significant situations relating to patient care. - Prepares and instructs the patient for the diagnostic exam using age appropriate communication skills. - Adjusts scanning factors and patient positioning to eliminate or minimize artifacts due to patient habitus, motion, implants, or monitoring equipment.    - Adheres to the ALARA principle while optimizing the exam to obtain the highest image quality with the lowest possible radiation dose to the patient. - Must be able to perform all ranges of exams after completion of technical competencies. Patient Identification Policy. - Labels images completely & accurately with patient demographics, position or other required documentation. - Follows through with all aspects of scanning duties in order to provide efficient and timely completion of examinations with correct data entry, begin and complete with correct billing and verification that images are in PACS. - Technologists prescreen all patients for sensitivity & contraindications to contrast medications used during the imaging exam.  - Implements the correct types of contrast and injection factors on a case-by-case basis.  - Generates a CD or DVD of imaging exams on an as-needed basis. Collaborate with communities to develop culturally-appropriate tools that support linking to preventive health care, health promotion, and other services.  - Enroll participants, provide them with health education, link them to resources, and conduct follow-up assessments. - Collect evaluation data from project participants. - Contribute to design and content of both an internal directory of health care and health promoting resources and a health resource navigation guide for use by case management entities and other organizations, with a focus on integrating community-based perspectives of navigating care. *Note:  This will be a one year position with possibility of extension dependent of funding.
