Coding:
- Review clinical documentation of services to be coded in EPIC, and any other source of documentation available to ensure compliance with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
- Assign correct CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for facility and/or professional charges, which could include E&M services; diagnostic services; procedural services; facility services; and/or Charge Routers and Charge entry.
- Establish and maintain procedures and other controls necessary in carrying out all procedure and diagnostic coding and insurance billing activity for applicable work queues assigned in facility and/or professional services at OHSU.
- Monitor activity for compliance with federal and/or state laws regarding correct coding set forth by CMS and Oregon Medical Assistance program (OMAP).
- Coordinate all billing information and ensure that all information is complete and accurate.
- Ability to maintain supportive and open communication with coding supervisor and team leads regarding coding issues and priority coding responsibilities assigned.
- Develop and disseminate written procedures to facilitate and improve billing and coding processes for the department, and to train, support, orientate, and mentor coding staff as necessary.
Department Support:
- Serve as a resource to ERC outpatient coding leadership and coding team for a broad range of billing policy and procedure issues.
- Attends coding meetings and seminars and shares knowledge with other coders. Participates in EC Huddles.
- In collaboration with Enterprise Coding Leadership, develop and disseminate written procedures to facilitate and improve biling and documentation processes.
- In collaboration with Leadership, make recommendations and implement remedial actions for problems
- Monitor coding and billing information from newsletters, memos, and transmittals from coding publishers and government agencies to advise physicians of billing practice changes in CPT, ICD-10-CM,and HCPCS
- Participate in Enterprise Coding education sessions, Kaizen events, maintain CEUs, stay informed of current trends in coding.

Operations:
- Answering and dispatching all EVS 24/hr pager requests. Assists with dispatching EVS techs where needed. Manages heavy call volume through the shift.
- Familiar with numerous guidelines, instructions, regulations, manuals and procedures.

Reporting:
- Uses Epic software to pull reports and extract data. The data is then manipulated and put into Excel spreadsheets to manage response, clean, room turn times and break and meal times.

- Creates and maintains routine spreadsheets, track various EVS projects. Create or revise evs procedures to improve and expedite work flow. Create spreadsheets using data from Epic for reporting purposes.
Quality and Safety:

As a member of the Division of Arthritis and Rheumatic Diseases, in the Department of Medicine you will report to the Division Head, Clinical Director, and Division Manager; and will be expected to contribute in each of the following areas:
1. Administrative and other duties may be assigned based on divisional needs and your areas of expertise and interest, including opportunities to participate in and to serve on institutional committees.
2. Clinical care will be your primary assignment and will include:
- Direct patient care in Arthritis and Rheumatic Diseases outpatient clinics (may include a combination of digital and face-to-face clinics at Marquam Hill-Physicians Pavilion, Beaverton Clinic, Orenco Station (Hillsboro, OR) and/or other OHSU outpatient locations) with a minimum of six (6) clinics per week.
- Adult rheumatology inpatient consult service for 2-3 months per year. Includes OHSU-only consult weeks (Monday-Fridays) and combined OHSU and VA Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS) weekend coverage.
- Potential assignment of eConsults and other direct and indirect patient care divisional needs assigned by the Division Head and/or Clinical Director, should the need arise.
3. This position participates in the divisions teaching activities, including divisional conferences, student and fellow didactics and on OHSU committees as expected and approved by the Division and Department, including undergraduate medical education programs and School of Medicine graduate programs.
4. There are resources available for start-up research and on-going support via established processes and opportunities. Faculty interested in doing research may be eligible to apply for departmental research assistance and non-clinical time through the Director of Research, Department Chair, and Division Head.
Providing optometric eye care services and staffing support to General Ophthalmology and the Contact Lens Service at the Casey Eye Hood River and The Dalles satellite clinics. General Ophthalmology duties include support of general adult eye clinic.
Professional education: assist with professional education events and courses presented by ophthalmologists, optometrists and other allied health professionals.
Administrative tasks: complete required documentation such as care report forms; maintain patient records.
Role of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). The IACUC is a federally mandated board charged with oversight and approval authority for animals used in research, testing or teaching. The role of the IACUC is to: (a) review and approve, withhold approval, modify, monitor and otherwise take action on proposed use of animal subjects for research, testing or teaching; (b) develop policies, standards and procedures governing the conduct of care for animals used for research, testing or teaching; (c) ensure that best practices are established for the use of animals in research , testing or teaching; and (d) take action to assure that researchers comply with laws and regulations regarding animals used for research, testing or teaching. The IACUC reports to the Institutional Official, who is the Vice President for Research.
This position is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, maintenance, and oversight of an integrated Animal Care and Use Program (ACUP), comprising oversight of animals used for research, testing or teaching on the OHSU West Campus (WC) and Central and Waterfront Campuses (CWC). In fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, the Director will collaborate with a broad spectrum of organizational partners, including but not limited to: OHSU faculty and department leadership; the OHSU Institutional Official; the Chief Research Officer and other executive leadership; directors and managers; Legal; Human Resources; research administration; other various committees throughout OHSU. The Labriola Laboratory has a strong emphasis on experimental pathology, and a Research Assistant 2 will contribute to post-mortem prosection, sample collection, and image capture at necropsy. The applicant may work in concert with other laboratory staff on the West Campus to accomplish a variety of hands-on procedures with NHPs such as collecting and processing tissues, phlebotomy, administrating experimental compounds/ anti-retroviral drugs/ medications, and monitoring of NHPs during procedures as dictated by study design. Assure the safe, efficient, high-quality quality and patient-centered management of care to patients with vascular disease, including but not limited to completing a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s status; developing, monitoring, and revising, as appropriate, an evidence-based treatment plan that addresses diagnoses, patterns of disease, risk factors, and treatment alternatives; treat many common acute and chronic health problems; interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe and manage medications and other therapies, provide health teaching with an emphasis on prevention of illness and health maintenance; and, refer patients to other healthcare professionals as necessary.

Clinical: 100% of your time will be spent providing clinical support in the Electrophysiology inpatient service. Duties include the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with arrhythmias and heart rhythm related disorders, including atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, and patients with cardiac rhythm devices. Support for outpatient services may be added depending on clinical need.

GI attending responsibilities-
- Approximately 20 work weeks (e.g., Monday through Friday) per year supervising the inpatient consult service
- Weekend inpatient consult service, approximately 6 weeks per year
- Ambulatory endoscopy and urgent GI clinic
- Approximately 24 weeks per year; during ambulatory weeks responsible for 2 days of endoscopy per week and 1 day of ambulatory clinic per week. The ambulatory clinic will mostly focus on new and urgent outpatient referrals and urgent post-discharge follow-up care.

During the attending rotation, you will not have other outpatient obligations and will receive full credit for the outpatient clinics.

Clinical 100%:
GI attending responsibilities-
- Approximately 20 work weeks (e.g., Monday through Friday) per year supervising the inpatient consult service
- Weekend inpatient consult service, approximately 6 weeks per year
- Ambulatory endoscopy and urgent GI clinic
- Approximately 24 weeks per year; during ambulatory weeks responsible for 2 days of endoscopy per week and 1 day of ambulatory clinic per week. The ambulatory clinic will mostly focus on new and urgent outpatient referrals and urgent post-discharge follow-up care.
- 2 days of administrative time each week during ambulatory weeks

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is expected to support and complement physician care of Infectious Diseases patients in a variety of settings, including the outpatient and inpatient realms. The position includes outpatient clinic at OHSU sites and inpatient clinical service at OHSU hospital. The outpatient and inpatient responsibilities are under the direct or indirect supervision as warranted with the opportunity for further independent practice based on performance.
- Clinical. The primary duties include direct inpatient and outpatient consultative patient care, and Video-based consultation coverage for OHSU’s Hospital at Home program. Inpatient and outpatient clinical activities will be scheduled so as not to overlap on the same day
- Education. This position participates in the division’s teaching activities, including divisional conferences, student and fellow didactics and on OHSU committees as expected and approved by the Division and Department.
- Administration. Administrative and other duties may be assigned based on department needs and your areas of expertise and interest, including opportunities to participate in departmental management and to serve on institutional committees.
