In this role, you will manage administrative functions, coordinate with Knight units (Human Resources, Finance, Grants Management), and facilitate the center's operations. Responsibilities include administrative oversight of staff, managing recruitment and promotion processes, overseeing onboarding/offboarding procedures, and ensuring performance evaluation compliance. The role also involves liaising with Knight Finance and Grant Management, monitoring financial performance, tracking and reporting grant applications, and reporting operational metrics. Additionally, the administrator assists with the annual budget process, collaborates on budget development, and represents the center during budget discussions. Event coordination, partnership management, and other duties as assigned by CBDS leadership are also part of the role.   Duties include but are not limited to: CBDS Administrative Supervisor and liaison to Knight Human Resources. - Serves as the unit’s administrative supervisor (Indirect Supervisor) for admin and research staff hired directly to the CBDS organization - Establishes and implements processes for unit onboarding, promotion, and offboarding. Secure technical and audio-visual support during candidate seminar talks that are streamed and/or recorded CBDS liaison to Knight Finance and Knight Grant Management - Works with Knight Finance to monitor and report on financial performance - Oversees labor distribution scheduling and effort certification reporting for unit - Develop and maintain the CBDS description for grant applications - Captures CBDS relevant proposal budget data using InfoEd routing information and tracks award progress and success Unit Reporting - Responsible for establishing and implementing systems for operational reporting (to the foundation, advisory boards, the Knight, etc.) on KPI, impact, capacity, and budget. Research on business models used by other data-focused research centers is needed. Coordinates projects with active management of expectations, timelines, and deliverables through facilitation and coordination of steps, which may include multiple clinical research protocols. Tracks and reports milestones. May assist leadership across multiple protocols to ensure appropriate and consistent project management, complex logistics, quality assurance, and participant safety. May lead data and regulatory audits of study conduct and data, emphasizing data security in concordance with federal, state, and local regulations.   Assists with trial start-up activities, including corresponding with the OHSU Institutional Review Board (IRB), eCRIS and ensuring all appropriate training and documentation is complete; recruiting, interviewing, and screening subjects for trials; following subjects throughout trial and follow-up period; ensuring all required data is collected and protocol is followed; reporting adverse reactions to trial sponsor and IRB, as appropriate; taking vital signs, performing ECGs, and drawing blood as required by the protocol; performing sample processing and shipping; performing inventory checks and maintaining trial supplies; entering data collected from subject visits into the appropriate system for clinical trials; assisting with regular reporting of study updates to IRB and subjects, as applicable; attend meetings as directed by clinical trials investigators; additional duties may be assigned by clinical trials investigators or the Manager. Uncontrolled inflammation generates significant morbidity and mortality in many infectious (e.g. HIV) and non-infectious (e.g. inflammatory bowel disease) diseases. By utilizing non-human primate models of human disease (both viral and non-viral etiology), the Estes Laboratory works to elucidate determinants of local and systemic inflammation leading to tissue pathology, disease progression, and viral reservoir persistence, as well as tests therapeutics to modulate the immune landscape, restore immune homeostasis, and reduce viral reservoirs.     This position will be responsible for prepping and organizing samples for active in-vivo studies in addition to database maintenance of current and archival samples.  This position also will assist in histopathology duties in support of the Laboratory’s Scientific Program, including: processing and embedding tissues, microtomy from FFPE tissues, directed immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and imaging using an array of platforms, and maintaining laboratory and equipment under direct supervision.    The ideal candidate will have histotechnology and/or relevant research lab experience. Imperative characteristics such as great attention to detail, good manual dexterity, and organization skills.

The employee will perform research which will involve using mouse, monkey and human gametes, embryos, pluripotent cells and various tissues.
