The duties of this position include: providing patient care in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology clinic/clinic equivalent in the areas of IBD, general GI, and endoscopy; attending between 8 and 10 weeks each year on the GI consult service; sharing night/weekend call responsibilities with other GI faculty members; and teaching medical students, residents, and GI fellows during the course of the year.   Clinical Responsibilities: 7 half days of clinic/clinic equivalents during non-attending weeks.  The outpatient responsibilities will be at the discretion of the Division Head and could be changed based on divisional needs.  The following plan is proposed for 2023-2024 - Two- three -half days of endoscopy - Four- Five half days of clinic focused on Gen GI and/or IBD 8-10 weeks on GI service based on the number of full time GI staff - During attending rotations, you will be expected to supervise Gl fellows, complete all inpatient Gl consultations, and perform endoscopic procedures on inpatients and complex outpatients at the hospital endoscopy unit or ICU.  During the attending rotation, you will not have other outpatient obligations and will receive full credit for the outpatient clinics. - Night and weekend call - in rotation with other faculty, and similar to other GI faculty.  Weekend call is shared with OHSU and VA faculty.  Faculty are expected to see new patients, and supervise all endoscopic procedures in person.       Scholarly and Research Responsibilities: - Teaching of medical students, residents, Gl fellows during the course of the year.

The Mishra lab aims to unravel the mechanisms underlying the neurovascular dysfunction in neurological conditions, with particular focus on ischemic injury and their contributions to Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Current projects in the lab aim to characterize the neuroinflammatory processes, especially the responses of astrocytes and microglia, following mild ischemia that may accelerate pathology in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and understand the mechanistic cellular and molecular pathways by which this leads to neurovascular dysfunction. Two fully-funded postdoctoral research positions are open to lead studies along these lines: - The first project will investigate the role of pericytes, the cells that control capillary diameter, in regulating cerebral blood flow in healthy physiology and in Alzheimer’s disease. This project will utilize pericyte-specific DREADDs and pharmacological/genetic manipulations to unravel the intracellular contractile machinery within pericytes, identify endogenous signals that regulate pericyte contractility, and examine how these signals may change in Alzheimer’s disease to cause neurovascular dysfunction. - The second project will investigate interactions between ischemia and Alzheimer’s disease. This project will use ex vivo (acute brain slice) and in vivo (laser speckle contrast imaging, 2-photon imaging, magnetic resonance imaging) live imaging for physiological analysis of vascular function, behavior to assess cognitive ability, and immunohistology to assess pathology. The goal is to determine how a mild ischemic episode (small stroke) alters neurovascular function over life-time and potentially synergizes with amyloid b pathology to precipitate cognitive dysfunction, and whether restoring vascular function can protect cognitive function.   The successful candidates will be responsible for experimental design, data collection and analysis, reading the pertinent literature, writing manuscripts for publication, and generally leading the project under the guidance of the PI.   The post-doc will also facilitate lab organization, participate in lab meetings, attend research seminars and journal clubs, present their work at national/international conferences, and help supervise research assistants and early graduate students in the lab.   Experience in mouse genetics, animal surgery, immunohistochemistry and western blotting, in vivo 2 photon or MRI imaging, and behavioral assessment are the main criteria. A willingness to learn and passion for scientific inquiry are a must!   Ideally, the candidate would be able to start in the lab in the fall or winter of 2023.

The Adult Generalist Anesthesiologist shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the University's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.   Teaches trainees and support staff in their area of professional expertise.  Teaching is done through assigned lectures to be given during the course of the year and through teaching in the course of performing their own job by modeling best practices, mentoring trainees, guiding learning through delegating graduated and focused levels of responsibility.  Faculty have a demonstrated competence in teaching and are knowledgeable about relevant guidelines from all applicable regulating bodies. Study Protocol Management and Development- - In collaboration with the principle investigator and based on sponsor protocol, develop/submit new IRB protocols for review as well as submit required maintenance amendments to the protocol as needed. - Work in collaboration with coordinator teams and Clinical Research Managers to ensure all IRB protocols are up to date, including updated staffing information, accurate term dates, and that amendments are submitted timely when adjustments are needed. The current work in the CET focuses on cancer biology, chemical biology, pharmacology, toxicology and pre-clinical drug discovery/development (high throughput screening (HTS), organic/medicinal chemistry, refining functional assays), for expanded clinical use. Expertise in the cancer biology and pre-clinical drug development, as well as an in depth understanding of the regulatory processes surrounding the use of such a device, is of high value. It is of critical importance to the number of research projects as well as for correlate research studies performed in lab. This position will be responsible for directing a pre-clinical research team that develops and run the drug candidates, providing potentially lifesaving treatment options to patients with late stage cancers and generating primary patient derived data for research purposes. This position will also play a role in developing and executing sponsored research projects. This will include drafting SOW, providing laboratory oversight of active projects, delivering project updates, and providing guidance on future potential commercialization of research finding. Given the requirement for extensive laboratory experience, this individual will also be responsible for overseeing and providing scientific direction of key research personnel, graduate students and post-docs and their research projects. This position is also responsible for independently writing grants and providing grant support to all levels of researchers within the department and will also provide oversight and direction for manuscript writing and submission and creating statements of work for collaborative projects. This individual will also be required to create policies and communicate these to the CET laboratory. This position will support the Wilder Lab in a wide array of research tasks, including performing all aspects of mosquito rearing in the insectary, quantifying parasitemia from non-human primates by microscopy and PCR, infecting and dissecting mosquitoes, assisting with mouse research, performing ELISA assays to characterize antibody responses, and cell culture/tissue processing. The Barklis lab within the department of Molecular Microbiology & Immunology is seeking a Research Assistant 2. The research involves biochemical, molecular genetics, and biophysical analysis of virus or cancer gene structure and function. Duties may include cell culture, recombinant DNA, protein characterization, biochemical, biophysical, and electron microscopy (EM) image analysis techniques; and a knowledge of how to analyze data so obtained.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated fellow with expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, and/or epigenomics to work in the following NIH-funded areas: - Coordination of DNA replication and transcription– uncover mechanisms that spatially-separate replication and transcription zones, study S phase-specific transcription regulatory mechanisms that prevent transcription-replication conflicts, investigate dynamics of phase-separated transcription condensates across S phase. - DNA replication stress – induced epigenetic instability– determine the impact of replication stress on propagation of epigenetic information, uncover mechanisms that couple DNA replication to epigenetic stability, explore the role of balanced histone synthesis on maintenance of epigenetic information. - Novel ATR-CHK1 signal transduction pathways– investigate ATR-CHK1 regulation of transcription-related cyclin-dependent kinases, including CDK12, CDK13, CDK8, and CDK19; signaling and regulation of histone locus body processes; and phase-separation of mediator complex.

We are a large nonhuman primate (NHP) research program at the Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute (VGTI) focused on - the collaborative development of cytomegalovirus (CMV)-based vaccine vectors for prevention and treatment of infectious and neoplastic diseases of global importance, including (in rough order of emphasis) HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, Hepatitis B, influenza and prostate cancer, and - the development of novel approaches (both vaccine and nonvaccine) to cure established HIV/SIV infection.   To facilitate our goals the research group is comprised of faculty level Program Managers as well as an Administrative Support Group which includes a Laboratory Manager, Project Administrator (budget and compliance) and support staff for administrative duties, supply, procurement, reagent and inventory management, as well as a dedicated Flow Cytometry Group which supports the research focuses described below. Of note, our group interacts on a daily basis with the NHP Pathology Lab and the Infectious Disease Resource (IDR), and closely collaborates with other VGTI labs. Vaccine Development Program (Prevention) – The primary goal of this group is to continue to improve, understand and characterize recombinant CMV vectors for clinical translation. To accomplish this goal, the group is comprised of three primary Focus Groups including: - pre-clinical vaccine development and efficacy using the NHP model, - CMV immunobiology using molecular techniques, and - clinical translation.   Each Focus Group is led by a senior technician (Focus Supervisor). Focus Supervisors are supported by Focus Leads that assist in coordinating daily operations and management of technical staff (Research Assistants). HIV Latency Disruption and Immunotherapy Program (Cure) – The focus of this group has been to delineate the mechanisms of SIV pathogenesis in the rhesus macaque model and to understand the cellular and immunological factors that contribute to viral persistence during conditions of optimal immunologic or pharmacologic control.   Building on these discoveries, this group has expanded their efforts to include the development and testing of novel therapeutic strategies aimed at achieving eradicative cure or long-term remission from HIV/SIV replication after treatment interruption.  Therefore, the primary goal of this group is to continue to develop novel strategies aimed at eliminating latently-infected cells with the goal of facilitating remission from HIV/SIV replication after cART cessation. To accomplish this goal, his laboratory is comprised of two primary Focus Groups including: - HIV latency disruption and - HIV Immunotherapy.   Both groups are managed by a Focus Supervisor and supported by technical staff. Technical staff (Research Assistants) within all Focus groups will be expected to carry out the science associated with various projects and provide the technical support required to meet the program’s research objectives. Technical staff are expected to function independently or as part of a team to ensure all project goals are met. All staff are expected to carry out daily activities of the laboratory, including but not limited to: maintain detailed documentation of the experimental work (digital and physical records); ensure quality control of equipment, reagents and cellular material; work closely with lab members and with outside collaborators; perform and assist with experiments involving cell isolation, immunologic assays, microscopy, flow cytometry, and molecular biology; and maintain close communication with a supervisor regarding progress. The position will involve handling and processing human and non-human primate samples that may contain infectious agents.   Additional duties include, but are not limited to the following: - Under minimal supervision, sets up and performs various research procedures in support of research goals and grant commitments. - May lead one or more phases of a research project. - Performs work of moderate to complex difficulty. - May contribute to the planning, design, manuscript writing, grant or regulatory documentations, modification of studies and experiments. - With supervision, may interact with external research sponsors. - May oversee and assist with the training of junior staff. - Communicate with senior personnel regarding daily priorities (facilitate which assays take priority, if applicable). - Report equipment/supply needs or failures. - Monitor morning and evening checklists (ensuring the checklists are complete each day, updating them as new tasks inevitably arise). - Streamline daily workflow (and receive suggestions for improvements). - Complete all assigned trainings.  - Perform additional duties as assigned.

- Work on research experiments relating to the Cell Fusion/cyclic immuno-staining project as assigned by Drs. Melissa Wong and Summer Gibbs. These studies will include a variety of technical approaches including: cell culture, cell imaging, immunohistochemical, tissue scanning and evaluation, antibody validation, computational analyses. - Sample collection and processing. Interaction with clinical staff to facilitate identification and collection of samples. Possible consenting of patients onto IRB approved protocol. - Perform data analyses and entry and maintain data files on research projects utilizing various platforms (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, RedCap, caTissue, ClinPortal, and others). - Immunohistochemical analyses, cell culture. - General Lab maintenance, including preparation of buffers and stocks, cleaning and organizing dishware, and racking and autoclaving tips/tubes. - Attendance at all laboratory research and division/department meetings.

This position is focused on research-based data analysis, including but not limited to, performing quantitative image-based analyses on FFPE multiplex stained tissue samples and generating initial data and reports. Position will contribute to the image analysis and computational side of multiplex imaging-based assays within clinical translational research studies, including high dimensional data analysis, computational methods and generating data for ML/AI applications, single cell analysis, clustering, dimension reduction, data normalization and multi-assay data integration.
