We are seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct research in areas of tumor immunology and tumor microenvironment, identifying cells and their mediators, and epigenetic mediators of inflammation that critically regulate cancer development. Specific projects will be determined by the applicant’s skill set and articulated research interests. Experience in immunology, ex vivo tissue culture-based assays, and mouse models of cancer are a requisite.   The Postdoctoral Fellow will be the primary strategist in scientific aspects of the assigned project, and in that regard may participate in supervision of some activities of research assistants, frequently taking responsibility for expensive equipment and experiment design. Assist pharmacist through performance of the following technical support activities:  - Computer order entry of inpatient and outpatient orders; - Filling unit dose medication orders; - Select ordered medications from inventory to fill new orders or to provide 24-hours medication for distribution to patient's room; - Answering telephone, filing, billing / crediting and medication profile maintenance; - Load and refill medications into automated dispensing cabinet stations; - Maintain manufacturing logs and documents to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.   Prioritize labels from new orders to assure that product is delivered to label location at least one hour prior to label due time.   Organize and restock work areas during and prior to end of shift, and remove expired medication.    Round to nursing locations; deliver items and remove  excess and discontinued oral dosage and injectable dosage units from patients’ bins and refrigerators and return to pharmacy for action.   Perform Unit Dose functions including: - Tube medications from pharmacy to hospital and clinic areas; - Repackage medications for unit dose dispensing; maintain and replenish stock for emergency trays and kits; - Return medications to stock and perform credits; - Record refrigerator temperature daily; - Process narcotics for removal from Pharmacy inventory and order replacements as needed; - Maintain barcode medication integrity by ensuring medications are barcoded before leaving the pharmacy. System optimization, hardware maintenance, user support, reporting, file transmission and assistance in problem-solving pertaining to automation and technology.   Performs a detailed and thorough audit of controlled substances medications dispensed for a patient and reconciles against products documented as adminisered or returned to the pharmacy for wasting. Demonstrates the ability to strengthen accountability, identify suspected diversion, and responds to known or suspected diversion incidents to avoid serious patient care, legal, and compliance implications.

The CVICU team provides tertiary care to critically ill patients with cardiovascular disease while the NSICU team treats critically ill patients with neurological injuries. Care in both ICUs follows evidence-based guidelines and clinical pathways developed by the multidisciplinary team. This posistion is a dual appointment with .50 FTE occuring in the CVICU and .50 FTE occuring in the NSICU.The APP faculty is expected to work a fair share of weekday, night and weekend shifts. Some travel may be required for conference presentations.   Current research projects a post-doctoral scholar could be involved with include the following: - Characterizing Older Mexican (American) Participation in Activity Digitally, Reliably, and Ecologically with the CART Platform (COMPADRE CART) is focused on monitoring real-world physical, cognitive, and social activity patterns in the homes of older Mexican Americans. - The Pacific Aging and Cancer Studies (PACS) is focused on learning about changes in patient functioning and quality of life in people undergoing cancer treatment by using unobtrusive, passive measurement technology. - Digital Evaluations and Technologies Enabling Clinical Translation for AD Study (DETECT-AD) is to improve early detection and monitoring of Alzheimer’s disease using a home-based system that continuously assesses a person’s activity and health in their home environment using simple devices (such as watches, electronic pill boxes, and bed mats), as well as blood tests, and brain scans. - Ecologically Valid, Ambient, Longitudinal, and Unbiased Assessment of Treatment Efficacy in Parkinson’s Disease (EVALUATE-PD) is an industry funded trial looking at the use of the ORCATECH home-based system, cognitive testing, and bloodwork to evaluate early-stage Parkinson’s patients and their care partners.

The appointee will function as a clinician at Cascades East Family Medicine Center and will have privileges at this Sky Lakes Medical Center. The purpose of the Laboratory Animal Technician 1 is to provide husbandry, health care and research support for laboratory animals maintained at the Oregon National Primate Research Center. The primary function of this position is to learn and master the ability to perform the manual and technical tasks directly related to the care of, and research support for the use of, laboratory animals. The area of work assignment and specific tasks will vary, depending on animal population and care requirements, service requirements, staffing needs and the individual’s knowledge. The Division of Comparative Medicine-West Campus houses approximately 5300 non-human primates, and approximately 1500 small laboratory animals, on a daily basis. The animals are housed in 8 buildings and 17 outdoor enclosures, on the ONPRC/OHSU campus. There are approximately 60 employees who are responsible for providing care of research animals.
