Technical Research  - Provide regular assisted reproductive techniques in mouse, monkey and human models as directed, including: ovarian stimulation, oocyte recovery, fertilization by conventional IVF and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), embryo culture to blastocyst stage, embryo biopsies and embryo transfer. - Cryopreservation of embryos and gametes. - In vitro maturation of immature oocytes - Deriving embryonic stem cells (ESCs). Cryopreservation of cells. - Basic molecular techniques including, whole genome amplification, PCRs and sequencing. - Participate in Center for Embryonic Cell and Gene Therapy work on evenings and weekends.  - Develop, maintain and periodically update laboratory protocols. - Contribute data summaries to IACUC, IRB, publications and grant submissions.  - Manage and maintain the human gamete, human embryonic stem cell and human frozen gamete/embryo database - Establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all embryology related techniques used in the laboratory. - Maintain current protocols and day to day operations. - Evaluate current changing technology related to embryology and propose changes to our laboratory equipment and SOPs - Monitor developing research embryos post experiment day. We seek an experienced scientist with background in immunology/cancer biology to lead our CyTOF and mIHC assays wet bench analytics as well as the complex process of new translational assay development from project inception and scoping through validation and troubleshooting.  This position would report to the director of IMCO and work closely with IMCO’s project managers and bioinformatics team.  The right candidate must be able to work independently and with our team of lab scientists and bioinformaticists, to lead our CyTOF and mIHC efforts including all necessary wet bench work and collaborate with our bioinformatics group to analyze and interpret data generated in terms of clinical relevance, statistical and biological significance.  The ideal candidate will be expected to both work hands-on at the bench performing new and traditional lab assays (with an emphasis on CyTOF and mIHC) and also at the computer developing, creating, analyzing, and manipulating the analysis “pipeline” for the new assays. The routine work products will be 1) Planning experiments using current assays and panels for CyTOF and mIHC assuring adherence to deliverables and time sensitive deadlines 2) Validation of new assays and optimizing existing workflows following standard operating procedures and 3) detailed record keeping of current projects 4) assuring GLP-like implementation of high rigor and assay reproducibility.  Opportunities for participation in research projects/grants/papers will be plentiful. This individual will be located within OHSU Knight Diagnostic Laboratories and will report to IMCO Director. A Research Assistant 2 position is available to conduct innovative research on the immunology and virology of HIV infection in Dr. Okoye’s Laboratory at the Vaccine & Gene Therapy Institute (VGTI) using the non-human primate (NHP) model. - Plan, perform and run independent experiments and help supervise other projects running in the laboratory.  Run the lab’s operation in the absence of the PI, a minimum of one day per week when PI is in clinic, and as needed. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. This position will work at OHSU locations and at our partner site Adventist Health Portland.   The duties of this position include: The Physician/surgeon is expected to actively participate in the education, research, patient care and administrative programs of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, with an emphasis on foot and ankle surgery and general orthopaedics. The position actively participates in all aspects of the clinical care of patients as outlined by the Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation.   As a member of the Department of Orthopaedics responsibilities and duties are outlined as follows:    - The Department Chair and clinical director will work with you to develop your clinical and operative schedule. Your duties will include inpatient, outpatient and surgical service activities for general orthopedic surgical services at Adventist Health Portland, with a specialty focus in your area of interest as agreed with the Department Chair. Call: This position will be expected to take call, as assigned, with other faculty on nights, weekends, and holidays. - Education. Since OHSU is a teaching facility, teaching medical students and residents in the clinical setting as well as through assigned lectures to be given during the course of the year is required. Teaching assignments will be given from the Director of Education. - Research. There are resources available for start-up research and on-going support. - Administration. Administrative and other duties may be assigned based on Department needs and areas of expertise and interest.
