The duties of the Family Medicine Maternal-Child Health Director at 0.25 FTE are to: - Check in with residents at the Family Birthing Center 2 – 3 days a week, reviewing learning environment, sign out process, interprofessional interactions, and offering guidance - Oversee or collaborate on the attending call schedule for the Cascades East OB/Peds Service and collaborate with others who are scheduling residency activities, call, including other collaborative call groups - Attend Faculty Meetings - Represent the Residency Program at the Peds and OB Collaborative Practice Committees - Serve on the RMT Inpatient service, Cascades East OB and Peds Call in a manner commensurate with other faculty - Facilitate a Quality Program for the Cascades East Maternity Care Service and Cascades East prenatal care and coordinate evaluation of critical quality incidents - Be responsive to the needs of Sky Lakes leadership as it relates to maternity care, and build relationships and collaborate with aligned services, e.g. OB/GYN, perinatology and Midwifery - Build relationships with the maternal child health providers in the community - Be responsive to the needs of Cascades East clinic leadership as it relates to prenatal care, proactive scheduling of pregnant patients, resident continuity OB experiences, precepting maternity care - Coordinate coverage of the OB and Peds call for special events such as Resident Graduation, Resident Retreat - Collaborate with external groups, including, but not limited to Klamath Health Partnership, pediatricians, obstetricians, perinatologists, to assure quality care of patients and respectful team-based care - Assist the residency director, medical directors, chair, and others in coordinating the credentialing and billing processes for maternity care - Assure full and part time faculty providing maternity care and precepting prenatal care maintain a culture of excellence with adequate delivery numbers. - Assist in onboarding and support for new faculty providing maternity care. - Coordinate and maintain ALSO course experiences, FHT tracing trainings, and other trainings for residents and faculty - Work with residency director and educational leadership to optimize the educational quality of resident experience, evaluation of faculty and residents on OB and Peds and oversee resident compliance with work hour requirements. - Assist in overseeing high quality sign-out process - Oversee the OB teach process, intern orientation, OB continuity experiences, C-section training experiences, procedural competency attainment for maternity care and peds - Assist and ensure resident training and compliance with Sky Lakes requirements - Be a source of support and mentoring for residents in maternity care training - Lead systems for resident evaluation of faculty and ensure that maternity care faculty receive timely and personalized feedback on OB-related teaching, professionalism, and maternity care and peds skillsets - Maintain participation by faculty in the curriculum and lead remediation and development efforts as identified by the faculty evaluation process - Work collaboratively with the Residency Director, other associate directors, and the DFM in identifying faculty development needs pertinent to maternity care faculty - Facilitate participation of residents in educational activities. This includes, but is not limited to coordination of orientation and intern assessments in collaboration with Education Associate Residency Director, inpatient didactics, and participation in appropriate interprofessional and multidisciplinary educational efforts - Meet frequently with the residency director to review curriculum, resident and faculty performance assessments, staffing, and other needs - Collaborate with faculty with an aim to support efforts for all three mission areas: scholarship, education, and service - Other duties as assigned by the Chair, Vice Chairs, Klamath Falls Cascades East Residency Program Director The duties of the Family Medicine Faculty Physician 0.75 FTE include: - Work collaboratively with full and part time faculty to maintain an active practice - The Appointee will directly see patients in their clinic eight half days per week and have two half day’s available for administrative duties. - Expectations for number of patients seen per half day will be commensurate with that of other faculty and with minimum target numbers of 8-10 visits per half day depending on complexity of the patient population. - The Appointee will be expected to document using the electronic health record and maintain complete and timely patient care documentation consistent with OHSU and Cascade East Family Medicine Center and Sky Lakes Medical Center policies and procedures. - The Appointee will be expected to participate in seeing patients during expanded access hours in the clinic, including their share of evenings and weekends, and call coverage. The Appointee will be expected to have a strong commitment to developing the practice into a vibrant clinical and academic operation, which is successful from both a professional and business perspective. - Be available for teaching activities.

The duties of this position revolve around teaching, research, and clinical activities. The teaching duties of the position involve participating in the education and training of medical and nursing students, house staff, and the regional medical community. The faculty member will be expected to make a didactic presentation at the Division’s Grand Rounds at least four times per year. The second component of the position involves establishing and maintaining scholarly research activity directed toward the improved understanding of the causes, detection, and treatment of diseases. The clinical component of the position involves providing clinical care to patients at the University Hospitals and Clinics, as well as affiliated hospitals and clinics, and engaging in public service through consultative activities in the appointee’s specialty with non-University groups. This position will maintain a broad reconstructive practice focusing on general plastic and reconstructive surgery including: free flap reconstruction for breast, lymphedema surgery, head and neck, trauma, lower extremity reconstruction and wound care.

This position is under the supervision of the Chair of the Department of Dermatology. The position supports the missions, goals, and objectives of OHSU encompassing teaching, research, outreach, and public service. Research opportunities will be under the direct supervision of Sancy Leachman, MD, Ph.D. Responsibilities include providing leadership and conducting independent research, mentorship of junior members of the laboratory including students, technicians, and post-doctoral fellows, manuscript preparation, and grant application preparation. It is expected that independent funding will be sought. This position participates in department affairs, contributing to curriculum development, and other responsibilities as determined by the department.

Provide electrolysis teaching, consultation and treatment in the outpatient setting. Primary electrolysis site will be genital areas. This includes, but is not limited to: independently seeing patients for consultation, new patient and return visits, and being available to take all patient calls regarding questions; assisting clinic support staff with patient paperwork and questions. Provide education to medical students, residents, staff and patients in the area of electrology.   Experience working with transgender patient population preferred. Must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize; ability to be a self-starter and organized; ability to work as a team member and also independently; must possess a positive and enthusiastic attitude, an eagerness to learn the background in plastic surgery, particularly gender affirming surgery and breast cancer reconstruction, possess excellent communication skills (verbal, written and active listening).  

Clinical:  - Procedures in the EP lab, inpatient consults, managing the inpatient EP service in conjunction with APPs and fellows, EP clinic, supervising device clinic, and reading ECGs and ambulatory monitors, as well as developing and growing specific areas of clinical interest.  - Additionally, there will be outreach opportunities, as assigned by the chiefs of EP and cardiology.  This position will also share in the EP call coverage, as well as the teaching of EP and cardiology fellows, residents, and medical students. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.  The Advanced Practice Provider (APP- NP or PA) serving as the Neuro-Oncology APP is a faculty member credentialed and privileged to serve as a licensed independent practitioner and is a member of the OHSU Professional Staff practicing in accordance with the respective bylaws.  The Neuro-Oncology APP has the responsibility to be scheduled and/or allocated to Neuro-Oncology department for medical management of their acute care patients. Additionally, the Neuro-Oncology APP is responsible to partner with the patient, family, pharmacist, and nurse case manager to impact timely and effective discharges and patient flow; impact patient and family experience through communication and education; mentor residents, clinical nurses and others; promote an interdisciplinary approach to care; and support new processes to improve patient outcomes. The Neuro-Oncology APP delivers care to both inpatients and outpatients.  In addition to key job responsibilities, qualifications and other job requirements listed below, the Neuro-Oncology APP is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.  The AGACNP/ ACNP shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the universities missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The AGACNP/ ACNP is expected to comply with the scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice. The AGACNP/ ACNP delivers healthcare services to individuals within the scope of their license, provides advanced education to students, peers and others; and, may contribute to new knowledge and/or technology by conducting or participating in scholarship.

Key Responsibilities & Performance Standards Technical Researh: Independently conduct technical laboratory research to assess ploidy and haploidy in mammalian gametes, embryos and stem cells. These responsibilities include: collect oocytes and conduct assisted reproductive techniques in laboratory models, utilization of novel embryo manipulation techniques including somatic cell nuclear transfer; isolation and characterization of blastomeres, ES cells and iPS cells, produce chimeric and transgenic animals, day to day maintenance of embryo and cell cultures, records and laboratory analysis by molecular, histological and immunocytochemical methods.   Data Collection/Analysis/Record Keeping:  Collect and analyze scientific data pertinent to the research projects. Manage and maintain detailed animal records and all research related information in an easily identifiable manner for current and historical documentation. Report Preparation and Literature Research: Prepare reports containing analytical, descriptive, and evaluative content that will be submitted for publication or for contribution to grant applications, progress reports, presentations at national and international meetings, etc. Conduct research of literature and database analysis. Personnel Supervision: Serve as lead-person for laboratory research assistants; train staff in research techniques and protocols; delegate tasks and oversee work of students and other support staff.   Material Presentation: Present research findings to fellow investigators and collaborative scientists; attend professional meetings.  

A CRNA is a member of the OHSU Professional Staff practicing in accordance with the respective bylaws. The CRNA shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The CRNA is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.   Clinical Service: Provides anesthesia care within the care team model commensurate with education, licensure, certification, and within limits of experience and expertise.   Scholarly Activities: Participates in clinical research projects as approved by the APOM Vice Chair for Research, conducted throughout the perioperative period. Participates in ongoing APOM CQI activities as directed by the Chair or appropriate Vice Chair.   Educational Activities: Responsible for the didactic and clinical training of  learners,  as approved by the APOM Vice Chair for Education and CRNA site director, throughout the Dept APOM, which may include paramedic students, flight nurses, nursing staff, Residents and Fellows form departments outside of anesthesiology, Registered Student Nurse Anesthetists and administrative and support staff.   Administrative Activities: May participate in additional departmental or hospital administration as approved by the chair, supervising Vice Chair or Chief CRNA.

The Staff Physician is the primary medical/clinical leader of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team, and provides psychiatric and medical care to patients under his/her care. The Unit Physician is responsible for the admission and discharge of patients to the Unit, psychiatric and physical examinations, formulations of diagnosis and treatment plans, and performing clinical treatments directly as well as monitoring clinical treatments done by others. Specific duties include performing psychiatric, physical and neurological examinations, writing orders for patient care, conducting meetings of the ward Treatment Team to prepare individual patient Treatment Plans and giving clinical leadership to services that implement them. The Unit Physician will collaborate with the Unit Director to provide leadership to the Treatment Team in formulating and implementing plans for operation of the ward therapeutic environment, and will provide direct service to patients such as group and individual counseling. The Unit Physician will complete the medical record in accordance with requirements of Medical Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations, and hospital policies, prepare correspondence communicating findings from patient evaluations to hospital administration, judges, PSRB, and attorneys. The Unit Physician will serve on medical staff committees, participate in peer review, quality assurance, and utilization review activities, assist with training and continuing education of Hospital Staff, participate in continuing education, maintain qualifications to perform techniques of basic life support (CPR), and attend medical staff meetings. In addition to assigned unit responsibilities, physicians shall participate in mutually agreed upon reasonable activities in community and hospital settings of direct interest to OHSU and DHS. The primary work site will be the Salem Campus of the Oregon State Hospital.   OHSU is a teaching facility and you may be expected to teach medical students and residents in the clinical setting as well as through assigned lectures to be given during the course of the year. You will receive your teaching assignments from the Director of Education.   There are resources available for start-up research and on-going support. Faculty interested in doing research may apply for departmental research assistance and non-clinical time through the Director of Research.   Administrative and other duties may be assigned based upon department needs and your areas of expertise and interest. There will be opportunities to participate in departmental management and to serve on institutional committees.

The Biomaterials and Biomechanics Department is seeking a Post-doctoral researcher/fellow to begin immediately. The successful candidate will be joining an enthusiastic and dynamic group. This position requires research performance consistent with the goals of the principal investigator, Carmem Pfeifer PhD. The lab is very active, with the opportunities to publish papers, submit grant proposals, present at technical meetings, and work with partners in industry and university / government. There are currently several areas of work within my lab which span within the broad field of biomaterials and include the following specific topic areas: - Design and synthesis of novel polymeric materials for dental and biomedical applications: the major project funded in the lab aims at harnessing ecological interactions within the oral biofilm and host enzyme derived degradation of the tooth substrate to develop novel restorative materials capable of withstanding the challenges posed by the use in the oral environment. These challenges include mechanical loading, bacteria-derived acid demineralization of the tooth, degradation of the material by salivary and bacteria-derived enzymes, as well as substrate degradation by water percolation and host metalloproteinases. - Test materials under physiological conditions in vitro: material resistance to degradation under physiologically-relevant conditions is the main focus of the development in the lab. Testing includes microbiology assays, mechanical testing and combinations thereof. Polymerization behavior is assessed with spectroscopic techniques, isolated or in tandem with mechanical testing. The successful candidate will have experience in material characterization techniques and manuscript preparation. Ability to work independently and contribute ideas is essential. We are looking for a motivated individual, with the mindset of contributing to the group in a meaningful way. Career development training opportunities are plentiful at OHSU, and participation is highly encouraged by the PI. The lab is currently funded through FY 2027 (NIH-NIDCR 1R35-DE029083), and therefore, it is expected that the candidate will be able to be part of the group for at least 2-3 years.

This position will be working directly with the practitioners of the OHSU Headache Program, seeing patients in a clinical setting. Clinical responsibilities will include eight half day weekly Headache Clinics at CHH.   Academic responsibilities will include teaching medical students, residents and fellows while attending the Neurology Headache clinics and in other settings as deemed appropriate by the Neurology Department.  The individual will be expected to participate in departmental activities consistent with this position and with the understanding that this position requires a focus and dedication to the department and the program. These duties may include memberships, special lectures, or participation in departmental committees.

The Histotechnologist will perform various histological lab duties and techniques such as preparing tissue blocks, routine H&E and special staining, coverslipping, making solutions, routine equipment maintenance, processing and embedding tissues from nonhuman primates and other laboratory animal species. The Histotechnolgist will consult with research and pathology staff to perform requests that meet the specific aims of each project, plan experiments independently or under the direction of the core director. The successful applicant will be provided with the necessary training in the operations of the lab, plus advance training in immunohistochemistry (IHC), next generation in-situ hybridization (ISH) and quantitative tissue analysis for IHC and ISH. The position requires general knowledge of universal precautions and willingness to work with Biosafety Level-2 agents and potentially hazardous chemical agents. The successful applicant will also be required to take on some administrative, training and supervisory responsibilities in the lab.

The primary function of the Geriatric Psychiatrist is to provide direct clinical care in the inpatient setting to geriatric patients on an as needed basis. The Student Worker will assist with computational analysis of NHP genome sequencing data to discover and characterize genetic variation and participate in the intellectual life of the lab by attending lab meetings and online seminars.

The Research Associate will play a leading role in several ongoing research projects that primarily involve evaluation of retinal structure and function in nonhuman primate models of aging and eye disease and in response to experimental treatments.  This position requires a hardworking, dedicated individual who can work independently.  Primary roles of the incumbent will be to manage ongoing studies of cell and gene therapies for retinal disease in nonhuman primates, conduct many aspects of the studies, and prepare reports and publications. Duties will include retinal imaging, image analysis, behavioral and electrophysiological assessments of retinal function and vision, histological analysis including sectioning and immunohistochemistry, detailed analysis and organization of data, and ensuring proper animal care. Other duties will include blood sampling, anesthesia administration and monitoring, administration of medications, surgical support and other laboratory duties. Candidates who have experience with vision research are especially encouraged to apply. The following skills would be highly valued: retinal imaging including color fundus photography and ocular coherence tomography; electrophysiological evaluation of retinal function; experience with cell culture, especially embryonic and iPSCs and their differentiation.
