- Work on research experiments relating to the Cell Fusion/cyclic immuno-staining project as assigned by Drs. Melissa Wong and Summer Gibbs. These studies will include a variety of technical approaches including: cell culture, cell imaging, immunohistochemical, tissue scanning and evaluation, antibody validation, computational analyses.
- Sample collection and processing. Interaction with clinical staff to facilitate identification and collection of samples. Possible consenting of patients onto IRB approved protocol.
- Perform data analyses and entry and maintain data files on research projects utilizing various platforms (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, RedCap, caTissue, ClinPortal, and others).
- Immunohistochemical analyses, cell culture.
- General Lab maintenance, including preparation of buffers and stocks, cleaning and organizing dishware, and racking and autoclaving tips/tubes.
- Attendance at all laboratory research and division/department meetings.

- Sample collection and processing. Interaction with clinical staff to facilitate identification and collection of samples. Possible consenting of patients onto IRB approved protocol.
- Perform data analyses and entry and maintain data files on research projects utilizing various platforms (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, RedCap, caTissue, ClinPortal, and others).
- Mouse husbandry and experimentation.
- Immunohistochemical analyses, cell culture.
- General Lab maintenance, including preparation of buffers and stocks, cleaning and organizing dishware, and racking and autoclaving tips/tubes.
- Attendance at all laboratory research and division/department meetings.
The schedule will be full time, including evenings and weekends as needed for experiments. Exposure as part of this position may include toxic chemicals and drugs, human tissues and fluids, and small animal work (mice) including tissue preparation, depending on the experiments performed.

The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. This position will work at OHSU locations and at our partner site Adventist Health Portland.
The duties of this position include: The Physician/surgeon is expected to actively participate in the education, research, patient care and administrative programs of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, with an emphasis on foot and ankle surgery and general orthopaedics. The position actively participates in all aspects of the clinical care of patients as outlined by the Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation.
As a member of the Department of Orthopaedics responsibilities and duties are outlined as follows:
- The Department Chair and clinical director will work with you to develop your clinical and operative schedule. Your duties will include inpatient, outpatient and surgical service activities for general orthopedic surgical services at Adventist Health Portland, with a specialty focus in your area of interest as agreed with the Department Chair. Call: This position will be expected to take call, as assigned, with other faculty on nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Education. Since OHSU is a teaching facility, teaching medical students and residents in the clinical setting as well as through assigned lectures to be given during the course of the year is required. Teaching assignments will be given from the Director of Education.
- Research. There are resources available for start-up research and on-going support.
- Administration. Administrative and other duties may be assigned based on Department needs and areas of expertise and interest. There will be opportunities to participate in Departmental management and to serve on institutional committees.
The duties of this position include:
- Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research):
- Assessing and managing patients
- Collaborate with other members of the team to communicate with and transition care back to the patient’s PCP and DC patients in a timely manner.
- Ordering appropriate diagnostic studies and laboratory tests to aid in the diagnosis of known or suspected injuries or illnesses.
- Interpreting results of diagnostic laboratory procedures.
- Prescribing therapy based on clinical, radiologic, and laboratory indications.
- Dictating and/or documenting patient care in a clear and concise manner.
- Communicating with the Emergency Medicine attending regarding patient variations from the care plan or deterioration in patient condition
- Providing patient and family teaching regarding their disease process, follow up care, appropriate use of prescribed medication, and assessing the need for consultations and referrals.
- Assessment and treatment of low acuity patients and initiating work-ups on more complex patients staffed with and attending physician in the Acute Emergency Area.

This level 3 coding position provides support to the Enterprise Coding Department for the coding of Inpatient services. The Inpatient Coder position requires certification and active credential status with AHIMA and advanced coding experience in the highly specialized areas of Inpatient coding.
- Inpatient Coding Services: This position is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and assigning the correct ICD 10 CM and ICD 10 PCS coding to Inpatient records.
- Utilizes Epic and 3M 360 systems
- Effectively communicates via email.
- Collaborates with Coding Leads, Clinical Documentation Specialists and Billing Dept to ensure correct coding and DRG assignment resulting in accurate Case Mix Index calculations and reimbursement.
- Ensures that the documentation is in compliance with ICD 10 and CMS coding guidelines.
- Advises coding partners and team members in coding assignments.
- Requires maintaining an hourly productivity standard and quality standards as set by Enterprise Coding and based on Industry Standards.
- Requires attendance of Enterprise Coding and Clinical Department meetings via conference call and WebEx.

Emergency Medicine
The duties of this position include: Assisting with staffing the Emergency Department (including the ED observation unit and Pediatric Emergency Services / Minor Care Clinic) as assigned by the Chair; functioning as an (Emergency Medicine) observation unit attending; participation in education of medical and paramedic students, house staff and nurses; participating in Emergency Department quality assurance activities; and provision of on-line medical consultation.
Critical Care Medicine
The duties of this position include:
- Clinical: Provision of inpatient or outpatient clinical duties in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, as assigned by the Division Chief.
- Administrative, Educational, and Academic: Specific administrative responsibilities may be assigned by Section Chief or Chair as needed. Educational responsibilities include meeting the general expectation related to the Fellowship and Resident rotations when on call, presenting at and otherwise participating in division grand rounds and other conferences. May be assigned to a PCCM fellow as a mentor. Will participate in fellowship recruitment. Further administrative and educational responsibilities will be developed in conjunction with the division chief.
- Allow students to learn technique for performing the urogenital exam, including external and internal inspection and palpation. Urological exam procedures to include palpation for lymph nodes, hernias, and examination of the scrotum, testicles, penis, and rectum (prostate), and breast / chest. MUTAs will guide the student through the learning process while each learner performs the urologic exam on the MUTA’s body.
- Provide learners feedback on proper integrated technique for sensitive interactive communication and relaxation before, during, and after the physical examination.
- Provide support and feedback to learners, to maximize the learning experience and build learner confidence.
- Deliver feedback to learners in a constructive fashion.
- Participate in small group demonstrations of the exam, as required.
- Maintain standardized instructional curriculum and teaching format.
- Assist in the training and development of other MUTAs, as needed.
- Note: Teaching may be performed with individual learners or small groups of learners. Instructional formats may include independent teaching or partnered teaching with a clinical preceptor or other MUTA.
- Allow students to learn proper technique for performing the breast / chest exam, including inspection and palpation. GTA’s will guide the student through the learning process while each learner performs the breast / chest exam on the GTA’s body.
- Allow students to learn proper technique for performing the pelvic exam, including external and internal inspection and palpation. Gynecological exam procedures to include palpation for lymph nodes, vaginal speculum exam, bi-manual exam, recto-vaginal exam. GTAs will guide the student through the learning process while each learner performs the pelvic exam on the GTA body.

Program Planning and Oversight (25% of Duties):
- Partners with the Nursing Wy’east Operations Team (NWOT), SON faculty and staff, and NNACoE staff within the Department of Family Medicine.
- Monitors fiscal management of the Nursing Wy’east Pathway Program (NWPP) and related projects.
- Oversees workflow based on the work plan.
- Oversees updates for NWPP stakeholder groups.
- Oversees all NWPP reports and coordinates program meetings and retreats.
Communications Management (25% of Duties):
- Develops and implement the NWPP communications plan(s) to ensure timely and effective communication of project progress to all appropriate internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversees the NWPP activities calendar, ensuring synergy between activities and projects.
- Develops and maintain the NWPP website.
- Oversees implementation of social media activities across all channels, making suggestions for new channels as appropriate.
- Oversees development of digital media content, identifying vendors internally and externally as needed to achieve goals.
- Works with NWPP partners to ensure smooth and effective communication.
- Supports and participates in the drafting of manuscripts, presentations, posters, newsletter contributions, grant progress reports, blog posts, social media, and other critical cross-project communication.
- Maintains communication and partnership with NNACoE staff.
Public Relations Management (15% of Duties):
- Partners with the SON Operations Team to maintain partner relationships (academic, community, tribal, NPO, NGO, etc.) to ensure effective communication of project goals and timelines.
- Directs visits by partners and implements key actions and outcomes from partner meetings and follow-up items as needed.
- Partners with others within the SON, across OHSU, and external stakeholders to effectively advocate for and inform about projects.
- Serves as a liaison to SON administrative staff and provides other resources for project teams.
Research and Evaluation (15% of Duties):
- Participates in the development and oversees the implementation of the NWPP vision, goals, and objectives in partnership with the Nursing Wy’east Operations Team, including sustaining and expanding programs, initiating new projects and programs, and developing new infrastructure.
- Identifies and develops new training opportunities for AI/AN learners and supports faculty development at the SON in partnership with the Senior Associate Dean for Student Affairs & Diversity.
- Supports and participates in evaluation and research as a member of the NWPP Evaluation Team.
- Directs outreach to current and potential partners and works together on grant proposal submissions.
Team Management and Logistics Support (5% of Duties):
- May have direct supervisory responsibilities.
- Manages travel, bibliography, evaluation activities, research compliance, etc. for NWPP team members.
- Directs logistics for team meetings and maintains notes/minutes.
- Directs the development of NWPP operations procedures and manuals.
- Reports project status and escalates for resolution of issues to Program Director (supervisor) and NWOT.
Learner Management (10% of Duties):
- Participates in and/or supports outreach and recruitment of AI/AN learners, faculty, and staff.
- Provides intensive advising, mentorship, and regular communication with NWPP learners.
- Connects NWPP learners with NWPP, NNACoE, and OHSU resources, services, and activities.
Other duties as assigned (5% of duties)
Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research):
- Clinical practice sufficient to maintain APN licensure in the state of Oregon.
- Plans and supervises student lab and/or clinical experiences or practice based on teaching assignment.
Scholarly Activities (research/writing, abstracts, grant work, presentations, etc.):
- Participates in scholarly activities based on faculty rank.
- At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, faculty in the practice mission, demonstrates capability in an area of clinical expertise and engages in inquiry and scholarship that contributes to clinical practice.
- At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, faculty in the research mission advance a program of research, prepares grants and seeks funding, and engages with other missions to foster inquiry within the SON.
Education Activities (include types of teaching and types of student taught):
- Provides effective didactic instruction based on teaching assignment using appropriate instructional technologies and simulation to ensure that course outcomes are met.
- Participates in curriculum development, assessment, and revision, and the development of student learning outcomes as requested by Program Administrators.
- In partnership with the Program Director, Assistant Program Director, and other faculty, acts to ensure integration of program didactic and clinical curriculum.
- Faculty in the doctoral program supervise students in dissertation and/or clinical inquiry projects.
Service Activities:
- These activities could include PNP program faculty meetings, workgroup membership, professional activities and other tasks as assigned by the Program or Academic Director.
- Participates in faculty governance, including faculty assembly, faculty forum, and SON workgroups and councils; additional engagement based on rank.
Administrative Activities:
- Assists with student admission, orientation, advisement, mentorship, evaluation, and assessment of remediation needs of PNP Program students as requested by Program Administrators.
- Attends PNP quarterly student advising sessions.
- As negotiated.
Other Activities:
- Maintains continuous self-development in teaching and clinical skills; performs self-evaluation and goal setting yearly.
- Follows appropriate University, School, and Program procedures in management of student affairs.
- The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.
Therapeutic Intervention Clinical trial coordination:
- For therapeutic intervention trials: coordinate patient recruitment/enrollment into studies. This involves: telephone screen potential subjects or recruit subjects in clinic or hospital, obtain informed consent from study participants or surrogates, schedule research participants for screening visits and follow-up visits, and coordinate scheduling of any additional procedures or consults;
- Triage and appropriate escalation of study related concerns for therapeutic intervention trials;
- Execute other tasks as required to maintain therapeutic intervention trial protocols. This includes, preparation of study subject lab specimens for shipment, point of care testing (i.e. neuro-psych testing), administer questionnaires, maintain study records, and other duties as needed.
Therapeutic Intervention Clinical Trial Study Administration:
- Collect and accurately enter data for therapeutic intervention trials in study databases;
- Complete sponsor case report forms or enter data into electronic data capture system for therapeutic intervention trials;
- Respond to data queries and conduct visits for therapeutic intervention trials with study monitors, including site qualification visits, site initiation visits, and periodic monitoring visits;
- Maintain study records in eCRIS for therapeutic intervention trials;
- For therapeutic intervention trials: ensure all project deliverables meet sponsor and departmental expectations, as well as meet standards of ICH/GCP.
Therapeutic Intervention Clinical Trial Set-Up/Closure:
- Assist regulatory specialist in preparing eCRIS and IRB submissions for therapeutic intervention trials initial review, including modifications, continuing review, and termination;
- For therapeutic intervention clinical trials: assist in developing source documents, questionnaires, data collection forms, and databases as required by protocol;
- For therapeutic intervention clinical trials: assist in developing subject recruitment materials (e.g., advertisements, flyers, letters) and implement recruitment plan.
