The Clinical Site Director for Predoctoral Patient Intake & Urgent Care is a full-time faculty member with all rights and responsibilities of School of Dentistry Faculty.  This faculty appointee provides services in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service.  The Clinical Site Director provides clinical leadership, management, and oversight of the clinical operations in the Predoctoral Patient Intake and Urgent Care Clinics. A Group Practice Coordinator works directly with the Director to provide administrative support. The Clinical Site Director works collaboratively with the Offices of Academic and Clinical Systems to provide clinical experiences for dental students in the admission of new patients and the provision of urgent care services to patients of record and community members in need.  The Director manages clinical systems that foster quality patient care experiences, student learning experiences and plays a leadership role in communicating, achieving, and maintaining quality standards for patient admissions and urgent care delivery that is patient centered. The Director provides supervision to dental student providers rotating in these patient care areas, calibration and collaboration with faculty assigned in these areas, and engages in direct patient care as needed to meet clinic operations. The Director provides direct patient care during academic sessions to model critical thinking and clinical skills and during periods when dental student providers are not in academic session. The Director holds collaborative responsibility for dental student and faculty on-boarding to intake and urgent care, student assessment during the provision of care, oversight of electronic health record documentation, systems assessment, process evaluation and improvement, and compliance to SOD policies and procedures.  The Director works with SOD Leadership to foster an environment which supports and engages dental providers, staff, and patients to promote wellness and improve oral health outcomes. In the role of faculty, the member will participate in the academic and clinical education of dental students, specific and general scholarly activity, research, and service. The member will participate in strategic planning activities, committees as deemed appropriate, and serve with other Clinical Site Directors within the SOD to ensure compliance with administrative controls and process improvements that increase efficiency, performance and outcomes. The faculty member is eligible to practice endodontic privately in the OHSU SOD Faculty Practice. This position reports to the Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Systems in the organization of SD. Clinics/54004 and is academically housed within the Department of Restorative Dentistry. The general pattern of working hours corresponds with scheduled clinic hours, Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.  Deviations from this pattern may be necessary at times. The team is routinely sought after to co-develop new programs and/or train others in similar positions.   Duties and responsibilities include providing post-award support for all Knight Cancer sponsored project activity including tracking expenditures, reporting, analysis, and projections/forecasting, as well as ensuring compliance with sponsor, university, federal, and Center requirements, managing sub-award agreements and invoicing, and providing budgeting assistance.  This position communicates and resolves issues with Principal Investigators, prepares quarterly reports on all grant activities for the Knight Cancer Director and senior-level Principal Investigators, and makes adjustments.  This position maintains Labor Distribution (LD) for all knight cancer faculty, researchers, and staff and works with the center’s financial analyst to ensure full coverage for all faculty and staff across all funding sources while ensuring that FTE paid appropriately reflects effort spent.  This position provides continual evaluation of actual effort versus proposed and reviews all effort certification statements.   Functions/Duties:  1. Act as Senior Post Award FA for the cancer center by using Cognos, Oracle, UFO, and other databases as necessary, develops, maintains, and presents monthly grant expenditure tracking reports including expenditures to date, projected expenditures, and projected ending balances for approximately 60-80 active sponsored projects (federal, foundation, and industry sources) including two Center grants, one foundation grant with 25 sub-projects, and grants with multiple sub1awards. Meets monthly with faculty to review status and make adjustments as needed.  - Manages multiple sub-award Agreements including requests to OPAM to create the Agreements, receipt and approval of invoices, and tracking sub-award payments as necessary. - Reviews all expenditures and FTE for award Principal Investigators and Key Personnel to ensure compliance with award and proposal requirements, as well as Departmental, University, and Federal policies.  Reviews and approves requisitions for grant-related expenditures.  - Prepares summary reports of all sponsored project data, presents data to the Center Director, Administrative Director, and senior level Principal Investigators quarterly for review, makes changes as necessary. - Identifies and resolves problems, assures appropriate and timely correction of expenses that posted incorrectly. -   3. Coordinates with colleagues and institutional partners:  - Works with Pre-Award staff to complete Progress Reports and non-competing continuations; justifies projected surpluses at the end of project periods and works with faculty to define future spending plans. Provides salary/OPE data for knight cancer personnel to PreAward staff in other departments as needed. - Using Oracle, completes all Labor Distribution changes for all knight cancer faculty, staff and students; completes LCTAs as required under post award activities.  Provides labor schedules as needed for Other Support pages. - Manages semi-annual Effort Reporting. - Provides ad-hoc reports to Center Director, Administrative Director, and Principal Investigators upon request. -   4. Faculty Analysis and Planning:  - Works with Knight Cancer’s Finance team / Analysts to forecast, analyze, and plan coverage of all faculty and research staff across all sponsored and non-sponsored funding sources; to ensure that FTE distribution matches work completed; and to ensure compliance with all Federal, OHSU, and Departmental policies. - Employ cost-benefit analysis / return on investment analysis for new and ongoing financial requests, including assessment of program performance - Conduct independent and accurate financial analysis and evaluation of cases of complex or unusual nature

The duties of this position include: - Serving as an attending physician at OHSU, Portland VAMC, Beaverton Knight Cancer Institute - Teaching medical students, house staff, and fellows - Attending OHSU weekly Chart Rounds (by conference call) & neuro-oncology tumor board - Attending quarterly M & M conference - Actively engaging in clinical practice as an employee of OHSU at OHSU Hospitals and Clinics (collectively, “Hospital” and, except as otherwise provided in this paragraph 7 of the “Clinician Employment Agreement,” not otherwise) - Complying with the bylaws, resolutions, policies and standards of OHSU in effect and as may be amended from time to time, including without limitation: - any compliance program or policy, - the OHSU Patient Care policy, - the OHSU Code of Conduct policy, - the OHSU Conflict of Interest policies, - all policies and requirements regarding the preparation and maintenance of medical records and the billing for patient services, and - OHSU Policy No. 03-30-060 - Participating in and complying with the OHSU Faculty Practice Plan (“FPP”) - Maintaining a good standing license to practice medicine in the state of Oregon and any other jurisdiction where licensure is necessary in order for a Clinician to perform the professional services contemplated hereunder and to maintain medical staff privileges at the Hospital - Complying with: - all applicable laws and regulations relating to the practice of medicine and the billing of clinical services, - all standards and requirements of any applicable contract for patient care services, - all requirements of any lease of clinical space occupied or used by a Clinician; - the directives of the Department Chair; and - any additional terms and conditions of employment specifically contained in Exhibit A of the “Clinical Terms and Conditions” agreement - Participating in committees and performing administrative tasks as requested by, and to comply with the directives of, the FPP Board of Directors and the Department Chair.
