The position’s primary functions are split between 1) leading the development and presentation of evidence synthesis research products such as systematic reviews, health technology assessments, and rapid reviews; and 2) data management and analysis using state-level and multi-agency data for public payers and policy decision makers.   The Center’s evidence synthesis research is focused on the areas of health technologies, pharmaceuticals and health services, with attention toward their applicability to Medicaid and other state health programs. Responsibilities include:   Independently develop and write evidence synthesis research products - Lead the preparation of research products for public payers and health policy decision makers according to Center style or client guidelines and research methods, ensuring accuracy and clarity, and using narrative text, tables, and appropriate illustrations - Work closely with external stakeholders to comprehend and address their research questions and interest - Present research findings to clients via webinar or in-person meetings or conferences - Research and analyze the context of the question(s) that clients are asking and convert questions into structured, answerable research questions - Identify relevant research studies, additional grey literature, and clinical practice guidelines, and determine their relevance to the research question(s) - Conduct meta-analyses for evidence synthesis projects - Create and manage references in a citation management software program (e.g., EndNote) - Manage evidence synthesis steps and workflow using structured systematic review software (e.g., DistillerSR) - Develop interview protocols and conduct interviews with key informants, as needed Data management and analysis of state-level and multi-agency datasets - Co-lead data analyses, such as building multivariate models, to assess associations between exposures or interventions, and outcomes - Establish trusting relationships with data partners and data transfer processes - Obtain, store, and clean large, state-level and multi-agency datasets containing claims, encounter, and administrative data and other data sources - Provide quality assurance for imported data and work with partner agencies, as needed - Provide meticulous recordkeeping in statistical code regarding data management processes and decisions - Aid in the development and execution of data use agreements (DUAs) with programs, organizations and agencies, and institutional review board (IRB) protocols - Use data visualization software for relevant data dashboards and research products, as needed - Support data analysts in variable (e.g., covariates, exposures, outcomes) development and decision making Project management - Track report progress, anticipating next steps, and gather required information from internal team, colleagues, and external contacts to produce high-quality, timely research products

• Clinical. The candidate is expected to have proficiency in abdominal wall reconstruction, complex hernia repair, fistulas, and have experience with advanced endoscopic therapies. Interest in nutritional studies a plus. The Division Head of General Surgery will assign the clinical schedule. Typical clinical responsibilities include 1-2 days in clinic and scheduled OR time throughout the week and can include occasional weekends. This position will also be expected to take call, as assigned, with other faculty on nights, weekends, and holidays. OHSU has affiliate partners within the Northern Oregon region and there may be an opportunity for performing surgeries in those locations on a limited basis. • Education. Since OHSU is a teaching facility, teaching medical students and residents in the clinical setting as well as through assigned lectures to be given during the course of the year is required. Teaching assignments will be given from the Director of Education. • Research. There are resources available for start-up research and ongoing support in line with other faculty and Division needs. The Picker Lab is recruiting an Assistant Scientist to join a growing research group focused on immunology, virology and HIV cure research using the NHP model. Our lab, affiliated with both the OHSU Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute (VGTI) and the Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC), is found on the tree-lined OHSU West Campus, in the Portland suburbs, conveniently located near US-26 and MAX light rail.   Current research projects include HIV persistence, HIV cure strategies, enhancing immune function (vaccines, immune, checkpoint blockade, engineered T cells, etc), preclinical drug development and the effect of aging on the immune system.  This work is fundamentally collaborative and includes partnerships with world-class researchers both within OHSU and across the country.

Our lab, affiliated with both the OHSU Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute (VGTI) and the Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC), is found on the tree-lined OHSU West Campus, in the Portland suburbs, conveniently located near US-26 and MAX light rail.   Current research projects include HIV persistence, HIV cure strategies, enhancing immune function (vaccines, immune, checkpoint blockade, engineered T cells, etc), preclinical drug development and the effect of aging on the immune system.  This work is fundamentally collaborative and includes partnerships with world-class researchers both within OHSU and across the country.

The duties of this position include:   - Serving as an attending physician at the Community Care Center (CCC), OHSU, Portland VAMC, Beaverton Knight Cancer Institute, Hillsboro Medical Center - Serving as a radiation oncologist  at CCC - Developing and maintaining a robust clinical program - Teaching medical students, house staff, and fellows (if applicable on rotation to main campus) - Attending OHSU weekly Chart Rounds (by conference call) & other tumor boards as applicable - Attending quarterly M & M conference - Actively engaging in clinical practice as an employee of OHSU at OHSU Hospitals and Clinics (collectively, “Hospital” and, except as otherwise provided in this paragraph 7 of the “Clinician Employment Agreement,” not otherwise) - Complying with the bylaws, resolutions, policies and standards of OHSU and CCC in effect and as may be amended from time to time, including without limitation: - any compliance program or policy, - the OHSU Patient Care policy, - the OHSU Code of Conduct policy, - the OHSU Conflict of Interest policies, - all policies and requirements regarding the preparation and maintenance of medical - records and the billing for patient services, and - OHSU Policy No. 03-30-060 - Participating in and complying with the OHSU Practice Plan (“OPP”) - Maintaining a good standing license to practice medicine in the state of Oregon and any other jurisdiction where licensure is necessary in order for a Clinician to perform the professional services contemplated hereunder and to maintain medical staff privileges at the Hospital - Complying with: - all applicable laws and regulations relating to the practice of medicine and the billing of clinical services, - all standards and requirements of any applicable contract for patient care services, - all requirements of any lease of clinical space occupied or used by a Clinician; - the directives of the Department Chair; and - any additional terms and conditions of employment specifically contained in the “Clinical Terms & Conditions” agreement of the final contract - Participating in committees and performing administrative tasks as requested by, and to comply with the directives of, the OPP Board of Directors and the Department Chair. This position reports to (supervisor): Arthur Hung, MD, Interim Chair, Department of Radiation Medicine. It is anticipated that the position will be made up of the following components: 100% Clinical FTE.
