The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a registered nurse (RN) who is responsible for upholding excellence in the provision of nursing care through the implementation of the Profession Practice Model. The ANM, in association with the Nurse Manager, is responsible for the managerial and leadership functions within a patient environment. The ANM functions primarily on evening and nightshift hours to provide operational oversight, consistency and continuity. - Planning and designing research experiments; establishing priorities and schedules; obtaining cost estimates.
- Data collection, processing and analysis, including statistical analyses, presentation of project results, and producing written documents (abstracts, manuscripts) on the result of analyses. Includes contributing to preparation of grant proposals to NIH and private foundations.
- Training new staff, graduate students, and student volunteers.
- Other duties as assigned.

Patient Registration
- Perform established patient search methods for medical record number in computer database.
- Properly identify and arrive patients that arrive in the ED whether it is a walk in or by ambulance.
- Gathers, adds, updates, and/or verifies detailed demographic information and completed/signed forms required for services. These functions are performed at stationary computer terminals or at patient’s bedside using a mobile computer terminal, occasionally over the phone. Hand written documentation may only be utilized during computer downtime or device malfunction.

Under direct supervision, primarily performs basic research or lab activities similar to a Research Assistant 1 or Lab Aide. Research at the OHSU-SOD will include not only basic bench work in the laboratory but also learning how to design experiments: Independently using instrumentation and performing basic laboratory techniques such as pipetting and buffering solutions with a pH meter Generating and analyzing data from experiments and collected health surveys This will include lab meetings and learning how to keep a lab notebook and daily log of activities.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a practitioner certified through the Oregon State Board of Nursing (NP) and authorized to practice within the parameters described in Division 50 of the Oregon Nurse Practice Act (Oregon Revised Statute Chapter 678) or is a Physician Associate licensed to practice by the Oregon Medical Board (PA).
