The purposes of these roles are to:
- Provide clinical management of patients in Hematology & Medical Oncology;
- Assure a coordinated, effective, high quality, and efficient care process;
- Use an interdisciplinary team approach to the care of patients;
- Work collaboratively with clinic management on process improvement projects;
- Provide education to colleagues, staff and students, as needed.

Outpatient Melanoma APP:
Summary: This APP is part of a multidisciplinary team with medical oncology, surgical oncology, dermatology, and clinical research to provide care to patients with skin cancers, including melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, merkle cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma as well as ocular melanomas. May see up to 12 patients in a clinical day. Additionally, may intermittently provide oversight of the infusion unit, responding to acute infusion reactions and urgent medical issues. This is a full-time outpatient position.
Schedule: Four 10-hour days per week. Schedule to be determined upon hiring.
Allogeneic Transplant:
Summary: The Center for Hematologic Malignancies (CHM) outpatient clinic provides acute and long-term care to patients who have undergone an autologous or allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) or received other cellular therapies such as chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy. Seeing up to 12 patients per day, this APP provides care in conjunction with a team comprised of physicians, APPs, RN coordinators, and other allied health professionals. APPs may practice both independently or in a shared-care model with physicians, as determined by the needs of the team. Additionally, this APP may be intermittently provide oversight of the infusion unit, responding to acute infusion reactions and urgent medical issues.
After appropriate proctoring, APPs will independently perform procedures including bone marrow aspirate/biopsy, lumbar puncture, ommaya tap, and skin biopsy.
Schedule: Four 10-hour days between Monday and Friday. Set schedule to be determined at time of hiring.
Outpatient Auto-Transplant/CAR-T Clinic:
Summary: The Center for Hematologic Malignancies (CHM) outpatient clinic provides acute and long-term care to patients who have undergone an autologous or received other cellular therapies such as chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy. Seeing up to 12 patients per day, this Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides care in conjunction with a team comprised of physicians, APPs, RN coordinators, and other allied health professionals. APP will practice independently. Additionally, this APP may be intermittently provide oversight of the infusion unit, responding to acute infusion reactions and urgent medical issues.
Schedule: Four 10-hour days per week. Schedule to be determined upon hiring.
CHH2 Infusion Unit:
Summary: This APP will provide oversight of the infusion unit, responding to acute infusion reactions and urgent medical issues. Additionally, they will see up to four same day/scheduled patients in our infusion clinic.
Schedule: 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, weekdays, weekend, and holidays included.
Referral Response
- Collects pre-screening information on all incoming donor-related calls, documenting information according to CLA’s policies and procedures.
- Evaluates incoming organ referrals for initial donor eligibility and communicates accurate referral information with the Administrator on Call (AOC).
- Monitors current organ referrals to determine and evaluate changes in plan of care utilizing EMR review and communication with the hospital care team.
- Performs initial and subsequent onsite huddles on local referrals.
- Collaborates with the healthcare team to maintain the option of donation for the family.
- Updates relevant internal and external stakeholders on status of active referrals and donor cases.
- Provides real-time education to hospital staff about the donation process.
- Collaborates with the Hospital Development department to ensure customer service needs are met for donor hospital partners.
Team Support
- Assists onsite Organ Donation Coordinator with various case functions such as chart completion, allocation calls and other logistical tasks as needed.
- Maintains ability to perform case starts in certain circumstances (this includes serology testing, standing orders, basic donor management and chart completion).
- Collaborates with the DFA team to facilitate authorization or disclosure with the legal NOK and accurately conducts a donor risk assessment interview with identified surrogate of the potential organ donor.
- Activates staff for relief as appropriate
- Coordinates logistics when necessary on active organ referrals and donor cases.
- Peer reviews charts, assists with cultures or any other Quality Assurance chart completion tasks as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned by the AOC and CLA leadership.

This position transports patients, material supplies, equipment, and miscellaneous items needed to support the medical, nursing, student, and administrative staff in the execution of their health care, education, and research missions maintaining a high customer service satisfaction. This individual may also participate on TQM teams and in employee development programs.
The Retail Sous Chef is responsible for the overall operations for the back of house and kitchen area of the production area. The Sous Chef supervises staff, assigned and reassigns work to ensure all standards, timelines, and objectives are completed. Supervises production levels ensuring adequate amounts of food are prepared by each station to ensure we don’t run out, while also minimizing waste by tracking trends, sales reports, customer feedback, and production excesses. Responsible for weekly menus/,child care center, catering requests, /seasonal offerings/farmers market/local, sustainable food offerings with recipes from Chef Tec and/or CBORD to ensure compliance is exceeded in all matters. Purchases food, supplies, and stock in the most economically manner from approved vendors, while ensuring our high standards of quality are met or exceeded. Makes sure everyone is trained on proper food preparation and kitchen safety techniques.
In addition, the Sous Chef ensures that the OHSU and departmental standards are upheld: Assure that finished goods are eye appealing; the recipes and proportions are correct, and it is cooked properly and served quickly. The Sous Chef also makes sure that the kitchen is properly cleaned on a regular schedule, food is disposed of properly and the kitchen meets all sanitary standards. He/she also tracks food cost, waste, and culinary employee hours/overtime doing their best to optimize operations, minimize waste, and create an exceptional dining experience for customers.
This position will also be responsible for the development of new retail menu items in collaboration with the Retail Managers, Supervisors, Executive Sous Chefs and the Executive Chef.
Production Functions:
- Responsible for coordinating all production activity for all 3rd floor production needs. Supervises production levels ensuring adequate amounts of food are prepared by each station to minimize shortages, while also minimizing waste by tracking trends, sales reports, customer feedback, and production excesses.
- Oversees the production of all retail menu items ensuring strict adherence to recipes for consistency and standardization of food quality.
- Responsible for supervising HACCP procedures to assure food safety compliance and documenting all corrective action steps taken. Ensure all foods, including potentially hazardous foods, are handled in a safe and proper manner according to Food and Nutrition Standard Operating Procedures (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points – HACCP), OHSU Infection Control, and Multnomah County Health Department. Identify critical control points (CCPs) in food preparation and storage and monitor the factors that might create a food safety hazard, using corrective action when a deviation occurs.
- Assigns cleaning schedule for Food Service workers, Cook I and Cook II positions. Records completion of Cleaning Tasks on Checklist.
- Ensures kitchen is properly cleaned and organized on a regular schedule, food is disposed of properly and the kitchen meets all sanitary standards.
- Food Preparation: Production training for all food service workers and Cook I and II classifications.
- Ensures workload is disbursed equally amongst staff, adjust schedules as workload changes.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Executive Sous Chef or Executive Chef.
The Facilities Utilities Coordinator for Building Mechanical Systems reports to the Healthcare Facilities Manager and is responsible for the maintaining of building mechanical system operations at Marquam Hill Healthcare facilities. Responsibilities include coordinating staff, vendors, and contractors to accomplish modifications, maintenance, repairs, renovations, energy usage monitoring, and materials management.
The Facilities Utilities Coordinator for Building Mechanical Systems serves as the steward of healthcare facilities preventive maintenance program, as well as the steward of the mechanical capital renewal program. This requires a high degree of problem solving in a fast paced, team-based atmosphere.
- Attention to continuous process improvement to drive change and evolve with the needs of the business.
- Acts as trusted advisor often explaining complex technical aspects of infrastructure to clinical staff.
The Facilities Utilities Coordinator for Building Mechanical Systems serves as the system/subject matter expert for capital construction activities and assists design professionals in the preparation of detailed drawings. The Facilities Utilities Coordinator for Building Mechanical Systems acts as the owner’s representative on mechanical projects, working directly with project coordinators, technicians or mechanical contractors on small mechanical projects and as an integral part of the project team for medium to large mechanical capital projects.
This role supports the institutional mission and vision by providing safe, compliant, reliable, and inviting facilities. This individual plays a key role in compliance with DNV, CMS, OSHA, and all authorities having regulatory jurisdiction. - Clinical Research: Involved in the conduct of human-participant research and the development and/or management of regulatory compliance with clinical research protocols: screening, enrolling, recruiting, and retaining research participants; coordinating study visits and research schedules; obtaining consents; conducting blood draws and sample collections: monitoring research activities and participation
- Assists physician during cases while operating a variety of complex radiologic imaging equipment including fluoroscopy and ultrasonography within the Cardiac Cath Lab suite.
- This includes circulating in the procedure room, operating the imaging equipment in both adult and congenital procedures.
- Cross train to another service area (Cath Lab, Hybrid OR, etc).
- Prep the patient and prepare supplies under sterile conditions for the procedure.
- Scrub in with the physician and assist in performing procedure.
- Accurately obtains x-rays for the exams while being respectful to the patient’s abilities and safety issues.
- Operates automatic injectors and selects the appropriate contrast agent for the patient and the exam under the direction of the physician.
- In collaboration with other staff, provides patient care during examinations.
- Responsible for equipment maintenance and use
- Includes recognizing, troubleshooting, reporting, and documenting equipment malfunctions along with coordinating borrowing equipment from other departments.
- Work independently on-call with department physicians and nurse.
Imaging
- Provides quality images, using optimal skills and knowledge of equipment.
- Performs quality diagnostic studies with accuracy and efficiency.
- Positions patients for MRI examinations with a high regard for their safety, care, and comfort.
- Prescreens patients and all related personnel in regard to MRI compatibility standards for safe entry into the static magnetic field. If there is any question regarding MRI compatibility, a Radiologist shall be consulted.
- Understand the differences in Implant Compatibility between field strengths.
- Understands MR physics with the ability to implement imaging parameters on a case-by-case basis. Understands normal anatomical cross-sectional images. Must be able to decide on the completeness and quality of the patient’s studies when working independently of a Radiologist.
- Prepares and instructs patients for diagnostic study using age-ppropriate communication skills.
- Optimizes each image during the examination to obtain the highest quality study with the least discomfort to the patient.
- Must be able to perform all ranges of exams after completion of technical competencies.
- Demonstrates competent knowledge and skills in the use of all MRI scanners and peripheral equipment within the MRI Department.
- Continues to stay current in regard to new MRI technology, hardware and software upgrades.
- Knowledge of compatibility and safety of equipment used for patient care inside the scan suite. (O2, monitoring, wheelchairs, stretchers and IV stands).
Documentation
- Verifies complete documentation of all pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service to customers.
- Verifies and initials orders in patient chart.
- Responsible for correctly identify patients by complying with Imaging dept. Patient Identification Policy.
- Labels images completely with patient demographics, position or other required documentation.
- Follows through with all aspects of scanning duties in order to provide efficient and timely completion of examinations with correct data entry, follows radiologist protocol, utilizes correct scanner protocol, begin and complete exams with correct billing and verification that images are in PACS.
Personal & Patient Care and Safety
- Provides for personal and patient care and safety using professional judgment in accordance with written standards to avoid injury to self and others.
- Responsible to adhere to all established JCAHO National Patient Safety Goals, and report errors or unsafe conditions to supervisor and the OHSU Event Reporting (Patient Safety Net).
- Follows universal precautions for blood and body fluids, protecting patients and staff.
- Works in a safe manner by maintaining a clean work environment.
- Reports injuries to supervisor.
- Starts I.V.’s on patients and injects contrast material.
- Proper use of sterile technique supplies and proper labeling technique.
- Uses prescribed dosage of contrast.

Responsible for many aspects of clinical trial administration from startup to closeout and assuring appropriate conduct of protocols to FDA guidelines. This includes but is not limited to:
- Collaborating with the Senior Research Coordinator regarding regulatory requirements of the study and creation of necessary sponsor, KCVI, OHSU and internal clinical trial documents and tools that facilitate study efficiency and team communication.
- Coordinating with the assistants in the collection and transcription of all source data with guidance as needed.
- Collaborate with study team to identify and develop new study-specific processes; ensuring everything is in place for first subject
- Responsible for direct sponsor correspondence in regards to enrollment numbers and general study maintenance issue.

In support of the PA program’s Clinical Skills and Simulation Learning activities:
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the OHSU Simulation center to direct the overall administration, programming, and implementation of clinical skills and simulation activities (e.g. OSCE, procedural, standardized patients, task trainers, high and low fidelity simulators, etc.) within the program.
- Engage in simulation specific briefings, debriefings, needs assessments, and trainings.
- Provide instruction and remedial intervention to students in the development of clinical and physical examination skills, including serving as course director for the Advanced Clinical Skills Courses
- Develop innovative assessments to evaluate student’s competency attainment of clinical and technical skills during the clinical phase of the program.
- Participate in clinical year site visits to assess student acquisition of clinical and technical skills.
- Provide mentorship and support to students during their clinical skills and simulation learning experiences across both phases of the program.
- Work in collaboration with the Director of Research and Assessment to evaluate student performance in relevant competency areas and correlation with predicted performance on the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE).
- Develop expertise in curricular development of clinical skills and simulation activities in alignment with best practice and the most up-to-date techniques.
- Serve as a resource to program faculty for the design and implementation of simulation and clinical skills learning experiences, promoting evidence-based, multimodal, effective instruction.

- Represent the program at School and University groups and committees that are involved with simulation, electronic health records, and standardized patients.
As a member of the faculty of the PA Program:
- Contribute to student instruction as course director and/or instructor, consistent with areas of expertise as assigned by the Program Director

- Provide student instruction in the academic and clinical phases of the program.

- Statistical collaboration including project management, data management, statistical analysis, and statistical report, grant application and manuscript preparation, including using publically available large databases (i.e., UNOS, NIS, NCDB, etc).
- Teaches internal technical courses and trains/mentors staff and specifically residents.
- Act as liaison between BDP and Surgery investigators by triaging pre- and post-award requests for biostatistics collaboration. This includes tracking and reporting of activities for Surgery in the BDP.
- Contribute to discussion and decision on study design, statistical approaches and analytical strategies with PI, co-PIs and other collaborators.
- Professional development including keeping up with current statistical knowledge through study group meetings, seminars and professional conferences.
- Collaborate with analysts/programmers at OHSU (e.g., OCTRI) and public institutions (e.g., NIS) to receive, store, and access large datasets using OHSU cloud storage infrastructure.
Patient Care: Assure the safe, efficient, high quality and customer oriented management of patient care to identified patient populations, including but not limited to inpatient rounding, inpatient discharges, patient follow-up by phone/MyChart, pre/post procedure care, and serve as an extension of the Interventional Neuroradiologists. The APP may perform detailed history and physical examinations; write appropriate orders and review lab results to insure acceptable limits; assist in development of patient care protocols and follow-up guidelines; administer drugs including narcotics, stimulants and depressants; write routine pre and post procedure orders as necessary; follow inpatients after procedures and writes appropriate orders as needed; write discharge orders and coordinates arrangements for follow-up care; perform vascular access and closure. Round on patients, write appropriate progress notes on patient charts indicating status of treatments and procedures performed.
Education: Support OHSU’s academic missions by participating in teaching nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical students, residents and fellows in the field of Interventional Neuroradiology. Duties may encompass but do not require scholarly activity in the use of diagnostic/interventional neuroradiology techniques to better our understanding of detection/treatment of diseases.
Performance Improvement (PI): Keep abreast of changes in field and applies knowledge to identify and recommend enhancements to clinical quality, patient experience/satisfaction, length of stay and to achieve improvement that demonstrates a higher standard of care.
Primary responsibilities at CMH will be in General Surgery, with a breadth and depth of general procedures to include endoscopy, cholecystectomy, breast biopsy and mastectomies. - Participates in the development of new policies and procedures for clinical research unit in collaboration with MFMRU Leadership
- Participate in interviewing and hiring of MFMRU study coordinators.
- Provide feedback to MFMRU Leadership on performance measures and productivity targets to promote job satisfaction for MFMRU staff.
The General Laborer is a working title for Laborer 1, it is the first level of a two-level series. This position is responsible for operating vehicle(s) to transport passengers between the Max Light Rail station and the West Campus. Additionally, this role will also perform various duties in support of technicians performing Facilities Maintenance work at the ONPRC, which includes moving boxes, furniture relocation, hanging pictures, shelves and cabinets, making parts runs and deliveries, assisting with small property landscaping projects, laundry, and custodial support.
Some duties will require work to be performed in areas that are not environmentally controlled, and may impose a potential risk of exposure to hazardous items such as laboratory chemicals, harsh cleaning agents, biohazardous, and broken glass and other "sharp" objects.
The successful candidate for this position will have the ability to communicate effectively and interact positively in small group settings and one-on-one with scientific and administrative staff, and be able to read, communicate, and follow oral or written instructions. This position will work independently and with minimum supervision, which requires excellent organization skills. Candidates should be able to able to lift, pull, and push supplies up to 30lbs, and perform the essential functions of this position with or without accommodation.
