Value Analysis - Provide analytical and data driven recommendations to the Value Analysis Committees regarding cost savings, product/service standardization, quality improvement, or operational efficiencies. The Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center is home to over 45 faculty and staff, engaged in the clinical, research, public health, outreach and education missions. Medical Laboratory Science Bench Duties - Perform routine lab testing; accurately record results and interpretations by computer entry and/or legibly in writing - Use lab instruments, supplies and equipment responsibly and according to lab and manufacturer's guidelines and Transfusion Service procedures. - Perform complex serologic testing to resolve problems encountered in routine testing, accurately record results and interpretations. Obtain consult to resolve issues. - Recognize incorrect or unusual blood product orders and take steps to modify the order after consult with patient physician or Transfusion Service medical staff or resident. - Maintain and manage an adequate inventory of perishable blood products and ensure that excessive wastage does not occur. - Choose appropriate blood products for patients based on urgency of need, available inventory, lab results, and therapeutic requirements. - Prepare blood components; document preparation, and label correctly. - Sign in blood products received from Red Cross with appropriate documentation. Issue and receive blood products to and from patient care areas. - Document transactions involving blood products correctly and legibly, i.e., receive/issue documentation; verbal orders; and orders placed with Red Cross, etc. - Follow established policies and procedures, but also have knowledge and authority to modify in special situations; bring these to the attention of the Technical Coordinator, Manager, or Medical Director. Seek guidance from or notify the Technical Coordinator, Manager, Medical Director, or Resident, when appropriate. - Train new personnel and mentor personnel in Transfusion Service procedures and policies while promoting excellent customer service, communication and teamwork. - Guide, instruct, and evaluate Medical Technician and Medical Laboratory Scientist students. - Ensure department specific turn-around times are met for tests, products and services. Quality Control Monitoring, Maintenance and Review - Perform Quality control, periodic maintenance and Proficiency Testing as assigned. - Perform and document maintenance of analyzers, blood storage and other equipment. Troubleshoot equipment and interact with vendors, as needed. - Participate in departmental Quality Monitoring/Improvement processes. Recognize and document variations, errors, and accidents. - Document proper temperature of blood products in transit from hospital to hospital, and internally at OHSU. - Inspect blood products for appropriate appearance. The business intelligence analyst will take requests for new reports and, through collaboration with the requestor and team members, will identify and document the detailed requirements. The analyst will design and develop a reporting solution that meets the customer requirements and also complies with Enterprise Revenue Cycle (ERC) and BIAA standards. It is expected that the analyst has a working knowledge of Epic Systems revenue cycle workflows and with the Epic Clarity data\Caboodle data warehouse (CDW) structures. Skills and activities required include: an understanding of data warehousing and operational knowledge with SQL, stored procedures, and development experiences in at least one relevant reporting tool such as: Business Objects Webi, SAP Information Design Tool (IDT), Tableau, PowerBI, Cognos, Crystal or Epic Reporting Workbench. The analyst should understand all phases of a system development lifecycle and data analysis.   The Systems/Application Analyst will: - Work with Epic Resolute revenue cycle users and provider billing analytics staff to develop report requirements and specifications.  - Design, development and implement financial reporting solutions to support the OHSU Health mission. - Collaborate with BIAA to design data warehouse solutions to support the reporting needs. - Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle Reporting users to develop and execute test cases and record results and incidents in testing logs - Fix incidents and implement the reporting solutions into production. - Participate in supporting training of users in the use of reporting tools.  This position is currently 100% telework/remote and may include remote work long-term. Patient Care: Provides direct care to the patient as required for meal service including: providing the menu, taking the patient’s meal order using a portable electronic device, confirms the items ordered are consistent with the prescribed diet, and checks the medical record for CBG orders or medications that need to be timed with food intake. Assists with assembling meals in the kitchen (at CHH2), delivers the meal, and ensures patients are ready for meal with over-bed table cleared. Checks for tray accuracy when delivering trays and is alert for items left on trays (glasses, dentures, paperwork). Removes soiled meal tray from the room and documents intake in the medical record. Orders product and maintains nourishment room inventory using FIFO, demonstrates competency in specific skills and follows established protocols including: uses two patient identifiers; uses hand sanitizer between patient contacts; recognizes and responds to emergent situations; documents according to established policies and procedures including: patient intakes and calorie count data in Epic on the computer, converts weights and measures for food items for calorie count data, coordinates care and/or services with other team members including: alerts dietitians and dietetic technicians to patients’ needs and arranges for snacks as appropriate, notifies nursing and other professional staff of patient needs when out of the Meal Service Associate scope of practice, communicates in a respectful, caring and non-judgmental manner, reinforces nutritional teaching and counseling which is supportive and/or restorative of health, assumes responsibility for professional/job related development, knowledge of advances in technology, use of new equipment and appropriate application of hospital systems, incorporates quality improvement practices into performance, incorporates the principles of OHSU’s Mission Statement into performance, supports patient and family centered care across the continuum through service coordination, adheres to HIPPA and confidentiality guidelines, and adheres to the OHSU Code of Conduct. Practices FIFO when restocking nourishment room.   Sustainability: Supports sustainability efforts of Food & Nutrition Services by participating fully in the recycling programs.   Waste Prevention: Prevents waste by assisting patients to get what they want, using oldest first (FIFO), and preparing only what is needed. Demonstrates fiscal accountability and the effective use of resources.

The Systems Analyst/Engineer is a Sr. Engineering position and must possess and continue to develop newer IP and software based telecommunications skills as well as working knowledge of legacy telecom tools & processes. The successful employee will be working on IP Telephony, contact centers, voicemail, converged applications, virtual machines, and python scripting in addition to legacy hardware, business practices, and built environments.  This position will need a working understanding of Wide Area Network Services, Network Security, WiFi, Low Voltage, Cable Management, Data Center Network Operations, Project Management, and related disciplines needed to deliver communications services to end customers. This position also provides for problem analysis, communications and technical feedback between customers, field support, and other ITG work units, providing (Tier III) support and technical escalation for design and problem resolution.   This position is distinguished by a hybrid combination of technology roles that include Systems Analyst, Systems Administrator, Systems Engineer, and Project Manager. These are multi-tasking, broadly based, positions that require a unique combination of analytic, engineering, project management, and customer service skills to provide ITG systems support across all OHSU healthcare, academic and research missions. Incumbents are proficient in troubleshooting and root cause analysis using the scientific method of refining a problem statement, and queuing up a series of increasingly specific tests to isolate the problem.  Necessarily, this requires specialized knowledge for the equipment and services for which the analyst/engineer is directly responsible.  In addition, expert broad based knowledge is used to troubleshoot integrated applications suites, services running across hybrid network architectures, virtualized servers or desktops, load balanced web farms, firewalled VPNS, etc.    In this context, the Systems Analyst/Engineer is also distinguished by a broad spectrum and high degree of technical skills/experience, and the ability to effectively multi-task across job roles and across multiple technology platforms.
