The DeFilippis Laboratory investigates innate immunity and vaccinology with a focus on the cGAS-STING pathway and inclusive mechanisms that can be exploited to improve vaccine and immune-based technologies.   This work combines cutting-edge molecular and multi-omics platforms with traditional immunology to understand the molecular and cellular bases of adaptive immune responses. We utilize in vitro as well as several mouse and non-human primate models of highly relevant viral diseases to additionally explore platforms and molecules designed to enhance and modulate protective immunity.    This position includes initially-supervised design of experiments and/or research procedures, with increasing independence over time, as well as the direct training and indirect supervision of junior researchers. Successful individuals will be/become proficient in research techniques such as transcriptomics, antibody-based methods, flow cytometry, fluorescent imaging, experimental design, and data analysis.  Additionally, this individual will support in vivo non-human primate studies, which may include coordinating with collaborators, scheduling procedures, collecting specimens, and processing tissue samples. Expectations include: 1. performance of routine procedures as well as development of novel techniques in which innovation and problem solving are required, 2. collection, analysis, and visualization of data, 3. establishing SOPs, 4. Increasing independence, including indirect management of junior researchers, and 5. reporting of work performed, in written form and as oral presentations in both small-group and large-group settings.   Prior experience with animal handling, molecular virology, nucleic acid analysis, protein analysis, cell signaling, and antigen-directed immune characterization is desired. A background in virology, innate immunity, and immunology is strongly preferred. Diverse opportunities exist for technical, professional, and leadership development. The Department of Biomedical Engineering at OHSU has an open Senior Research Associate position in the laboratory of Dr. Summer Gibbs.   The Senior Research Associate will to work on NIH funded projects that require rodent handling and surgical skills. The applicant will complete surgeries to expose a variety of nerve tissues for imaging applications. The applicant will also implant, monitor and resect a variety of mouse xenograft models for fluorescence imaging projects related to a variety of funded grants. The successful candidate will have a strong background with experience in rodent handling, surgeries and mouse tumor models. iThe position will require a variety of laboratory skills including cell culture, mouse handling, xenograft models, macroscopic fluorescence imaging, and image analysis. We are looking for skilled, motivated scientists to join our multidisciplinary team to contribute to this highly translational project. The Gibbs laboratory is well support by the NIH and engages in a range of studies to develop novel fluorescence imaging technologies to improve medicine.

The HEALthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) Study at OHSU is conducting studies with pregnant people and their children in the areas of neurodevelopment, behavior, learning, environmental factors, substance exposure, and cognitive functioning under the direction of Principle Investigators, Alice Graham, Ph.D., Elinor Sullivan, Ph.D. and Bonnie Nagel, Ph.D. We have an opening for an energetic and highly motivated full-time Clinical Research Assistant 2. Duties for this complex study will include the collection of biological samples, recruitment of participants and coordination of visit scheduling, as well as consenting participants, and running data collection visits with participants. Other duties include preparing and processing materials needed for each research visit, filing, copying, data processing and other general duties in support of the goals of the study. The candidate will also attend weekly laboratory staff meetings with the PIs and senior staff members.   Essential qualifications include multi-tasking, dependability, attention to detail, and ability to work at a fast-paced, timely manner. The ability to follow complex protocols, be skilled at oral, email, and written communication and to work effectively as part of a team. Previous experience working with biological samples and pregnant people in a research setting is desired. Intermediate computer experience with Word and Excel, is preferred. Interest in mental health, health care, and addiction treatment desired. The candidate will be required to perform work on site at OHSU and weekend and evening work as needed to complete the goals of the study. When on duty, the candidate will be asked to obtain and start processing samples within 30 minutes of a patient’s delivery.

- Always promotes the mission of the Knight Cardiovascular Institute through our Professional Standards of timely Customer Service, Reliability, Productivity, Professionalism, Accuracy, Timeliness, Integrity, and Problem-Solving. - Responsible for many aspects of clinical trial operations from site initiation visit to closeout and assuring appropriate conduct of protocols to meet FDA guidelines. This includes but is not limited to: - Collaborating with the clinical trial administrator, program manager, senior research coordinator regarding regulatory requirements of the study and creation of necessary sponsor, KCVI, OHSU and internal clinical trial documents and tools that facilitate study efficiency and team communication. - Coordinating with the assistants in the collection and transcription of all source data with guidance as needed. - Reviewing a weekly task list of outstanding items prepared by the assistant coordinator to ensure data entry to EDC is captured within obligatory time frames - Collaborate with study team to identify and develop new study-specific processes; ensuring everything is in place for first subject - Responsible for direct sponsor correspondence in regards to enrollment numbers and general study maintenance issues - Data entry of visit data into central data repositories (eCRIS, internal subject trackers, etc.) - Addressing all imaging and laboratory queries in sponsor ERT - Maintaining laboratory reporting and signature requests from the PI - Timely and complete adverse event reporting - Responsible for elements of patient visits including but not limited to: - Independently schedule and facilitate subject assessments. - Independently performs subject pre-screening and screening. - Responsible for working with the clinical research assistants to schedule visits. - Communicating assessments and appointments with study subjects utilizing the electronic medical record system to document all communications and instructions regarding research visits - Active involvement in obtaining and documenting informed consent - Independent direct research subject contact to obtain or verify information while working with PI to triage clinical information and patient questions. - Direct Collaboration with ancillary departments to ensure research subjects receive timely blood draws (PKs), ECGs, vitals (blood pressure, temp, respirations, height, weight), ECHO, imaging, or other study related tasks as needed. Delegation to research assistant as deemed necessary. - Provide follow up for subjects who are no longer receiving treatment in the form of phone calls or clinic visits. - Ensure all documentation post-visit is entered into EPIC and EDC - Independently write Clear, concise, and professional documentation into EPIC for source document creation - Responsible for direct sponsor correspondence regarding patient safety, responding to queries, reporting adverse events, conduction of visits, etc. - Assist with coordination of patient travel - Assist with prepping any necessary documents prior to the visit - Responsible for communicating with patients regarding scheduled appointments - Assist with processing and shipping lab specimens - Assist with retrieval of study drug for visits
