User Support: Provides advanced support for use of Medical Affairs systems including credentialing, privileging, document management, e-communications, analytic, statistical and electronic signature software; performs complex analysis/troubleshooting to resolve problems with hardware and software; seeks support from ITG for software, hardware and network problems; develops and provides formal training to users of applications; analyzes, troubleshoots and resolves complex user or system problems; documents application programs, user instructions, installation procedures, operational procedures; develops and maintains program websites, list serves, weblogs, portals and web-based data submission tools; maintains and performs routine updates for Program policies posted on the intranet.

Installation: Coordinates requests for installation and wiring needs for new hardware; determines environmental and electrical requirements for new installations and computer moves; installs components of newly acquired computer systems, sets up and configures systems; installs software; maintains records verifying compliance with vendor licensing agreements; maintains software archives.
Documentation: Documents application programs, user instructions, hardware and software installation procedure, software versions, operational procedures and maintains documentation to ensure accuracy; maintains lists of locations of equipment; maintains equipment inventory.

Dental Assistants in the department assist in both the clinic and the operating room.

The student worker will collaborate with the Administrative Coordinator and Program Manager in various projects related to diversity, equity, inclusion and access for OHSU. Role would provide support to the Retention and Recruitment for Student diversity institutional efforts. Projects may include but not limited to assisting with logistics for student support, i.e meet and greets, Equity Research Program, event planning such as Juneteenth and other observance days, tracking and updating CDI event calendar. Working with student leaders and staff leaders to move forward OHSU’s core values, anti-racism efforts and mission.

This position transports patients, material supplies, equipment, and miscellaneous items needed to support the medical, nursing, student, and administrative staff in the execution of their health care, education, and research missions maintaining a high customer service satisfaction. This individual may also participate on TQM teams and in employee development programs.

The Custodian will provide cleaning services, and other duties as assigned to the university. The Shipping Coordinator position coordinates and implements the entire administrative process of the Department of Comparative Medicines Import and Export processes according to research staff specifications while ensuring compliance and regulatory policies with federal, state, and local regulations, industry standards governing animal research (NIH/IACUC/OLAW/AAALAC), departmental procedures, and all safety procedures according to University standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs).; analyzes data and uses judgment in making independent decisions regarding the coordination of the program; prioritizes program wide responsibilities; serves the Comparative Medicine staff and clientele by arranging animal shipments to and from other institutions, domestically and internationally, Serves as the primary contact to set up and track the shipment transactions utilizing DCM-OPS software, email, phone, and fax to process all phases of transactions. Interacts with researchers and DCM Veterinary staff on the progress of their requested movement of animals.
In fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, the Shipping Coordinator will need to effectively collaborate with a broad spectrum of internal and external partners and stakeholders, as well as be expected to demonstrate: good attention to detail, ability to stay calm under pressure, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task. The individual must exercise initiative, independent judgment, and discretion within the parameters of their responsibilities. - Victim advocacy services
- Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, and case management for OHSU students, including developing appropriate safety plans with students, to address the variability of victims’ needs;
- Assist with the filing of victim compensation forms;
- Upon request and with permission, accompany victims as a support person:
- Throughout all stages of the university’s investigation and discipline proceedings, including acting as an advisor at any related meeting or hearing;
- When giving reports to or meeting with University Police, local law enforcement, the Title IX Coordinator, and any other University administrator;
- When going to medical/counseling appointments and treatments (including medical-forensic evidentiary examinations by a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner);
- When going to legal appointments and hearings in court or with legal representatives, including assistance with obtaining a restraining or other protective order;
- When going to meetings and appointments with University personnel, including the Title IX Coordinator, regarding Interim Remedies (e.g., academic, employment, and housing).
- Assist victims, with their permission:
- In seeking reasonable and available Interim Remedies from the University, even where the victim has elected not to file a Complaint;
With other related reasonable and available on and off Campus services that ensure their well-being and safety.
- Oversee volunteer advocate program
- Provide oversight over a campus wide program for victim services and advocacy;
- Monitor compliance with privileged advocate training requirements for volunteers;
- Develop and monitor advocacy support services using staff and studentvolunteers;
- Conduct trainings for student and professional staff, related to sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking;
- Oversee either a campus developed or contracted 24/7 call or text confidential advocacy hotline for OHSU students impacted by gender based violence.
- Support services liaison
- Ensure victims, with their consent, receive information about 24 hour-a- day sexual violence assistance services, including information on how to report to law enforcement and to the University’s Title IX Coordinator; emergency medical care, including follow-up medical care, as requested; and medical forensic, or evidentiary examinations;
- Ensure victims, with their consent, receive sexual assault assistance services, including crisis intervention counseling and ongoing counseling; information on victim rights and options, including referrals to additional support services; and information on legal services, and the availability of restraining and/or no-contact orders;
- Build and maintain a referral resource database; and coordinate MOUs with off-campus providers to ensure 24/7 services for student victims of sexual misconduct;
- Outreach and training
- Train volunteer advocates; cover the foundational topics of sexual assault advocacy in supporting student survivors;
- Train volunteer advocates on how to provide victim-centered, trauma informed responses to survivors and the skills to safely advocate for survivors in their community and the justice system.
- Collaborate with the campus Title IX Coordinator to develop and provide outreach based educational activities regarding violence to the campus community including engaging culturally diverse and underserved victims;
- Plan, organize, and promote sexual assault awareness month activities;
- Maintain current crisis advocacy information and resources on the department’s website and in print materials.
- Grant monitoring
- Serve as primary grant programmatic contact, implement daily grant activities, and participate in trainings and conferences as required by grant;
- Collect and track program data, utilizing tracking and accountability systems, and create reports following grant requirements.
- Perform other secondary duties as assigned.
The practice manager supervises and coordinates activities of the General Surgery Clinic located in Astoria, Oregon. This position is responsible for the administrative oversight and supervision of all clinical and administrative staff to enhance quality of care for the clinics’ customers.
The position works closely with the clinic staff and physicians to improve patient experience, adhere to regulatory standards, and lead process improvement initiatives. This position will serve as the main point of contact for patient service issues. This key practice leadership position helps develop the clinical programs, assuring quality care for patients. Responsibilities include:
- Daily operations including room assignments, inventory, Medical Assistant management, patient flow and process improvement
- Human Resources activities such as recruitment, orientation and ongoing supervision of Medical Assistants
- Ensures that all Medical Assistant staff is current with expected clinical practice standards, including annual competency training
- Carries out annual performance reviews for clinic staff with feedback from clinicians and administrative leadership. Recommends annual merit increases and salary adjustments.
- Develops and implements regular MA staffing patterns to cover clinical practice areas
- Operations Management such as coordinating daily operations and work activities for clinical services. Creates staff schedules and monitors staffing levels for the practice based on patient acuity, staff competencies, and patient volume
- Provides timely and appropriate resolution to pateint, customer, physician, personnel, vendor and organizational concerns or complaints
- Process improvement facilitation/Project management: Works collaboratively as part of the ambulatory care teamon assigned projects and initiatives across the institution
- Works closely with Surgical Services and other hospital departments to continually improve patient experience related to surgeries and procedures performed both in the clinic and in the hospital.

Delivery: loads trays as checked starting with left column going from top to bottom; runs for missing items; assures that trays are complete before loading; keeps carts lined up; adds par stock and nourishments to carts for delivery; notifies staff on units when arriving on floor or
Transport: load trays into meal carts as needed; deliver meal carts or requested items (including nourishments) to nursing units in a timely and efficient manner; communicates with Room Service Associates using the Vocera system to ensure timely delivery of trays. Picks up soiled carts and returns them to dish room. Or
Tray Assembly: sets up station with standard items. Places items on tray according to tray diagram. Works assembly position putting on beverages and condiments, desserts, juices, and other assigned items. Uses proper portion control. Assures trays are complete. Runs for items as directed by checker or manager. Cleans work station.
Pick-up: brings back all dirty trays in carts for assigned floors; collects dirty trays from the floor kitchens as needed; picks up dirty trays and service ware when encountered.
Dish Room Work: cleans dirty carts outside with cleaner; sanitizes inside with quaternary sanitizer; lines up carts for next meal; sorts silverware and runs through dish machine a second time
Sanitation: follows department policies and procedures for food safety and sanitation; uses proper utensils; uses gloves appropriately; uses chemicals appropriately and only after being trained; complies with infection control policies and hand washing procedures.
Sustainability: supports sustainability efforts of the Food & Nutrition Department by participating fully in the recycling programs, and separating food and food-soiled paper waste for composting.
Waste Prevention: prevents waste by using oldest first (FIFO), and preparing only what is needed.
Service Excellence: fulfills responsibility to organization through performance that promotes the service excellence philosophy. Takes ownership of a problem and ensures positive outcome. Creates a service culture. Assumes the role of a patient advocate.

Language Interpretation Services Provides interpretation between patients, employees, and OHSU staff and Spanish-speaking patients with limited English proficiency while maintaining a friendly disposition. Understands and analyzes the spoken message, and re-expresses that message faithfully, accurately, and objectively in the target language, considering the cultural and social context. Serves as a cultural and linguistic resource to patients, families, staff and providers in contributing to successful outcomes. Educates OHSU members on policies and best practices for scheduling and working with interpreters.
Customer Service Uses independent decision-making and judgment skills to provide prompt, efficient and courteous service to all staff, patients and their families. Utilizes customer service recovery skills to ensure patients and staff have a good experience. Identifies problematic trends in patient and employee system navigations and provides proposed solutions to management for resolution.
Documentation Documents interpretation encounters and keeps logs related to program and operation required for accurate billing submitted within deadlines communicated by the Supervisor. Complies with all OHSU mandatory requirements including TB Screening, required education, and immunizations and takes responsibility for following accurate timekeeping processes.
The Certified Nursing Assistant assists care providers in the care of patients at a medical facility by performing simple procedures and treatments and maintaining a safe, clean, efficiently stocked environment. Work is performed in various locations throughout a medical facility such as examination rooms, emergency rooms, patient rooms and wards, and treatment rooms.
Patient Care. Assists in admission process by recording patient's name, address, phone number, age, and other personal information; takes and records vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration rate, and temperature; makes appointment for patient or refers patient to medical staff for immediate examination or treatment; records a list of patient's personal property and secures property if appropriate; transports patient to examination or treatment room with use of wheelchair or gurney or assists patient to walk; assists patient in undressing; assists physician or nurse with treatment or examination by passing instruments, applying or removing bandages and dressings, holding patient in proper position for x-rays or electrocardiograph, or collecting specimens; provides basic care such as feeding, grooming, bathing, and ambulating patients who are confined to bed; checks food trays for proper diet; records food and liquid intake and output; gives enemas; administers non-injectable medication under close supervision of physician or nurse; observes and reports changes in patient's conditions; assists physician and nurse in emergency procedures such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Facility Maintenance. Unlocks doors at start of day; removes used and un-sterile supplies and instruments from examination or treatment rooms; stocks rooms with sterile supplies and instruments; washes and sterilizes instruments or sends to central supply for sterilization; cleans patient rooms, wards, examination rooms, and laboratories by mopping floors, scrubbing counters, sinks, and examination tables with disinfectant; changes linen and makes beds; troubleshoots equipment for malfunctions; makes minor repairs or refers to repairperson; takes inventory of supplies, equipment, and instruments; orders supplies or requisitions them through unit superior; prepares for emergency or special treatments by assembling surgical trays, draping rooms for isolation procedures or setting up room with equipment such as oxygen tanks or cardiac defibrillator.
Miscellaneous. Answers phones and responds to non-medical questions; files and retrieves patient's records; runs errands such as delivering specimens to labs, picking up x-rays or lab reports, or picking up medication at pharmacy; transports equipment such as oxygen tanks to other locations within facility; assists in postmortem care by bathing and dressing deceased patients and occasionally transports body to morgue; engraves unit identification on instruments; assists security personnel in restraining combative patients; trains new aides.

The purpose of this position is to provide adult and pediatric phlebotomy service to the outpatients served by the OHSU Hospital and Clinics and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and provides Coagulation testing for the outpatients served by the Center for Health and Healing 2 Laboratory. This person also provides support services to the phlebotomy team by ordering laboratory tests either from the hospital information system (HIS), or directly into the laboratory information system (LIS).
This person works closely with the Phlebotomy team and others in the department, to ensure immediate, courteous, and comprehensive responses to requests for service, or concerns about specimens and related matters. This person maintains a professional and customer service oriented focus at all times.
