The one-year Men's Health and Fertility Urology Fellowship is located in the Department of Urology. The appointee shall provide services in the Department of Urology as assigned by the fellowship director. This will include ambulatory clinical practice and surgical practice in any of the OHSU or partner operating rooms. The fellow will develop a thorough understanding of the evaluation and management of Men's Health and Fertility-related urologic conditions. Fellows will spend their time with different faculty performing men’s health and fertility-related care. How this exposure is balanced will depend on fellow interest, previous exposure in prior training, surgical skill, as well as clinical demand. Exposure to other urologic surgeries is important for a well-rounded training experience and to gain greater insight and knowledge about men’s health and fertility principles. An average of 2-3 days per week will be spent in an outpatient clinical setting/research/administrative time. As this field is very collaborative with other specialties, fellows will have extensive exposure to other disciplines. Fellows will be expected to attend all meetings of the OHSU Urology department for faculty. Fellows will attend and be expected to present research and clinical teaching presentations at national and international meetings. Fellows may be asked to give teaching presentations within OHSU and locally, as well. Fellows will act as a point of contact for residents in the residents' management of patient care. This may include rounding on weekends at times.
As board-eligible and licensed urologists, Fellows will take call as OHSU faculty at a frequency consistent with other OHSU Urology faculty and be responsible for clinical care as a result of those duties. Fellows may also be called upon to periodically staff patient consults seen and worked-up by the residents. This is important in developing autonomy needed for future practice, as well as financial support of the fellowship position.

Clinical Responsibilities:
- Provide medical and advanced practice management independently and/or in conjunction with attending physicians. Works in conjunction with attending physicians to provide continued clinical care in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Communicate with attending physicians, patients and families regarding patients’ conditions, treatment plans, and urgent medical needs.
- Assure appropriate setting of care (inpatient, critical care, acute care)
- Document subjective and objective findings, assessment and plan clearly and accurately in daily progress notes.
- Identify discharge needs early and communicate plan to patients, families, nurse case manager, and other healthcare team members.
- Work with nurses, social workers, nutrition services, pharmacy and others as needed to assure optimum patient care.
- Make appropriate referrals to specialty care service within OHSU and outside of OHSU.

- Review patient labs and physical conditions in order to override treatment parameters as appropriate.

- Provide consultation to OTU nurses.

Education:
- Support OHSU’s academic missions by participating in the design, development and assessment of program curricula for professional specialty area; including course objectives, instructional methods, learning outcomes, projects and assessment measures.
- Assist in meeting the educational needs of staff, residents, fellows, students, patients, family members, and others as appropriate.
- Collaborate with OHSU team members to establish or revise clinical pathways and patient education materials.
- Attends and participates in Grand Rounds, trauma conferences, fellow lectures, national conferences and other learning opportunities as available.
Quality and Research:
- Work with clinic and hospital staff to optimize order sets, patient instructions, and other infrastructure that supports patient care.

- The Position will have 20% protected time to assume current Division ‘s research grant projects and potential additional percentage of protected time for continue research that have been transferred or time secure grant funding within 24 months of hire date.

- Interprets and evaluates prescriber's orders and for accuracy, completeness and appropriateness. Documents activities of clinical decision or medication distribution issues that are not in line with the standard of practice, require follow-up, or continued monitoring/evaluation. Verify the accuracy and appropriateness of medications prepared and dispensed from the pharmacy.
- Assists in the reconciliation of medications, education of patients regarding their home medication regimens, and coordination of the discharge medication plan with the interdisciplinary team. Documents activities in the patient medical record.
- Monitors therapeutic response and adverse effects of medications to guide drug therapy. Consults with provider when questions or problems are identified and documents activies in the patient medical record. Appropriately reports all adverse drug reactions, drug defects, and medication errors.
- Responds accurately to requests for drug information from prescribers, nurses, patients and patient's families; independently reviews and interprets the literature and applies this information to specific patient care situations.
- Assists in the development of treatment guidelines to be used in patients with specific diagnosis. Documents activities in the patient medical record, pharmacy monitoring profile, drug use evaluation data collection or adverse drug reaction reporting program.

This Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) position will be part of the Knight Clinical Research Prostate Program. This position will involve implementing and conducting complex phase 1-3 trials on an oncology research team with a portfolio of both Industry Sponsored and Investigator Initiated Trials (IITs). The CRC will coordinate all aspects of clinical trial protocols, including management of study subjects, with a primary focus on subject safety. Longer term, they will also be working with the Early Phase Unit, the clinic and infusion units, and outside collaborators, including Nuclear Medicine, the Veterans Administration, Urology, and Oregon Clinical and Translational Research Institute.
The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute Clinical Research Coordinator is responsible for implementation and overall management of oncology clinical trials.
These responsibilities include coordination of all aspects of a study as specifically outlined in the protocol. Primary focus will be subject safety and compliance with the prescribed protocol and Good Clinical Practice. The CRC will work collaboratively with physician, nursing, and ancillary staff in the scheduling and management of subject research activities. The CRC will maintain accurate, complete and timely records on all research subjects including preparation of source documentation and clinical research data/case report forms. . The CRC will have direct patient contact, process biological samples and perform other non invasive testing such as ECGs and vitals.
Given the complexities of oncology research and the challenges of working with a terminally ill population, strong customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required. Ability to clearly organize and/or adapt to multiple priorities and deadlines at one time is necessary. Attention to detail, service orientation, delegation and project management skills, and above average critical judgment skills are essential.

Duties and responsibilities include providing post-award support for all SoD sponsored project activity including tracking expenditures, reporting, analysis, and projections/forecasting, as well as ensuring compliance with sponsor, university, federal, and Center requirements, managing subaward agreements and invoicing, and providing budgeting assistance. This position communicates and resolves issues with Principal Investigators, prepares quarterly reports on all grant activities for the Director, Finance & Research, Associate Dean, Research, Associate Dean, Finance & Admin, and senior-level Principal Investigators, and adjusts as needed. - Process all referral work queues for the scheduling of consultations, procedures while assessing the patient’s needs based on diagnosis, insurance coverage and medical records.

As a member of the Knight Cardiovascular Institute, you will report to the Program Director and the Dept. Chief and be responsible for duties in the areas outlined below:
- Education: OHSU is a teaching facility and you will be expected to teach medical students and residents in the clinical setting as well as through assigned lectures to be given during the course of the year. You will receive your teaching assignments from the Program Director &/or the Chairman.
- Clinical: The Program Director will assign your clinical schedule. You will work as an instructor within the department. The clinical schedule will be determined based on the resident/medical student schedules and the specific procedures and assignments taking place therein.
- Administration: Administrative and other duties may be assigned based on department needs and your area of expertise and interest.
Customer Service:
- Provide the highest level of customer service to both external customers (patients and their families, referring providers, insurance carriers, etc.) and internal customers (OHSU health care providers and staff) that meet or exceed the service standards of the health care industry. Call Processing:
- Responsible for connecting the patient with the appropriate individual to progress their care in the clinic; Transfers calls to schedulers as needed, creates telephone encounters, contacts nursing coordinators, and pages providers and staff as needed per circumstance; Scheduling and managing of patient access to Oncology services at CHH2. Create telephone calls from patients in Epic which will include accurate documentation of requests for medication refills, complaints, general informatin inquiries and urgent health care concerns; Triage calls to the appropriate staff for patient care /needs assessment; Process call (answering, screening, routing, paging etc.) in a timely, polite, professional manner; Route calls to appropriate conclusion; Provide information to callers, including directions, addresses and hours of operation; Use schedules and departmental procedures to locate appropriate on-call person for internal and external callers; Understand and process calls per departmental policy for each encounter type (ie refill, telephone, documentation, etc); Expected to take 20% of incoming volume of clinic calls. 60-80 calls per day.
Scheduling:
- Coordinate patient care appointments and managed care as directed by physician and/or nurse staff; Serves as a liaison and information resource for physicians, and nursing support staff; Return phone messages; Prepare and mail patient information packets; Direct patients to appropriate providers for other health care issues; Complete and route direct referrals to other clinical services; Enter patient information accurately into the electronic medical record when necessary. Maintains a service-based working knowledge of oncology practice.
Check-in/Checkout:
- Checks out clinic, procedure, and infusion appointments. This includes, but is not limited to careful review of insurance benefits, demographic information, confirming insurance eligibility, and /or authorization. Checks patient account numbers and corrects any problems, seeking advice from Central Registration as required. Ensures that all appointment comment information is accurate and completed. Identifies and updates deductible payments, co- payments, and prepayment requirements. Proper use of OHSU forms and documentation required for all patients.
The Research Associate will be responsible for most of the planning, implementation, and data interpretation associated with their own research. Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to interact with graduate students and research assistants/technicians and be actively involved in their scientific supervision and in the general research directions of the lab (both technically and intellectually).
A critical aspect of this position is to establish and maintain collaborations by taking full advantage of the terrific network of labs offered within OHSU, including the Brenden Colson Center for Pancreatic Care, the Sears Lab, the Dept. of Surgery, as well as the Knight Cancer Institute. Duties include:

- present project status reports to Center leadership;
- assist with grant applications and donor reports;
- assist with producing program retreats wherein ongoing research is presented to the OHSU community;
- provide recommendations and process/tools development to support objectives
- Outreach:
- assist with producing program retreats wherein ongoing research is presented to the OHSU community;
- participate in professional conferences and community events;
- in collaboration with the COE team, evaluate, monitor and improve recruitment plans; actively engage with patient advocates;
- assist with development and dissemination of outreach materials and media
As a Research Associate, this individual will be responsible for independently contributing to and participating in ongoing research projects in the Center for Embryonic Cell and Gene Therapy. This includes assisting in developing and evaluation of novel gene and cell therapy approaches. The primary focus of this position will be investigating and optimizing delivery of gene editing constructs in vivo in mice into specific brain regions using molecular and cellular approaches, as well as sample collection, processing and analysis. The candidate will participate in mouse colony maintenance, in vitro and in vivo experiments, mouse surgical and neurosurgical procedures, histology procedures, immunocytochemistry, cell culture, and molecular assays. Participate in purchasing of equipment and supplies and communicating with scientific and support staff. Perform a variety of duties, which require flexibility, judgment, and unique experience in the field of cell therapy. Contribute to written reports, abstracts, project proposals and scientific presentations. Appointee will participate in the on-call schedule including intermittent evening, weekend, and holiday coverage.
