Must possess expertise in the theory and application of surgical technique, human anatomy, and surgical procedures, implementation of tools and technologies to facilitate safe care of the patient during invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. The surgical technologist role requires extended periods of standing, lifting heavy instrumentation, and potential exposure to Blood Borne Pathogens.   The ST also maintains the unit by stocking delivery rooms, maintaining surgical equipment, managing inventory and additional duties as delegated.   ST's on the L&D unit may also be required to do the following: take and record vital signs; newborn weight measurement; phlebotomy; help with transportation and other duties delegated by a registered nurse.

Provides Autotransfusion services and STAT laboratory functions including Point Of Care Tests (POCT) to all OR areas. Releases POCT orders written by anesthesia providers prior to testing. Manages the Malignant Hyperthermia (MH) carts and assists in MH crisis.   Rapidly responds to massive transfusion activations. Transports blood products urgently from laboratory to any of the Peri-Op/MSPU locations.   Other duties: Records and interprets laboratory data and hemodynamic readings. Accurately fills out Autotransfusion record. Performs other duties as assigned by the physician.

A postdoctoral researcher position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Sarah F. Andres at the Pape Family Pediatric Research Institute, Oregon Health and Science University, Portland, OR.   We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and dedicated Ph.D. scientist who has experience with gastrointestinal biology, extracellular vesicles, or mouse models to join our team.   The postdoc will lead projects centered around novel mechanisms that enhance or reduce intestinal damage during the neonatal inflammatory disease necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). Ongoing projects include defining therapeutic roles of human milk extracellular vesicles in the neonatal intestine and the use of novel genetic mouse models to delineate post-transcriptional regulation in early intestinal development and NEC.   The lab uses genetic mouse models, human patient samples, including novel 3D patient-derived enteroids, cutting-edge molecular biology, -omics approaches, and imaging techniques to answer critical questions.   In addition to scientific training, the postdoc will also receive personalized mentoring to advance their own career development including networking introductions, goal setting, leadership opportunities, further training in public speaking, project management, grant, and manuscript writing, and chances to review manuscripts and attend conferences.   Our research is highly translational with the ultimate aim of taking bench findings back to educate bedside treatments and practices. Successful candidates will be dynamic, self-starters with a doctoral degree. Strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to think critically are essential.

This position has direct responsibility for supervising managed care personnel and processes within Community Hematology Oncology (CHO), with the potential to extend to other departments or specialties in the future. CHO comprises five clinics and infusion suites located throughout the Portland-metro area. Of these, four are part of the OHSU Knight-Legacy Health Cancer Collaborative (Cancer Collaborative), a partnership between Legacy Health and OHSU. The Managed Care Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing managed care operations within this matrixed environment.   Managed care staff are responsible for the patient financial experience. This includes eligibility and benefit verification, obtaining prior authorization or verification of appropriate authorization, creating patient estimates, securing prepayment, among other duties.   This position will directly supervise 8 staff at CHO, with the potential for growth over time to include staff within both CHO and other departments/speciailites, and has oversight for the following:   - Eligibility and benefits verification - Prior authorization (for all services including office visits, ancillary services, infusion services, and chemotherapy) - Patient liability estimations and pre-collection - Retroactive authorizations and appeals for denied services   The incumbent leads their team by recruiting, training, mentoring, and managing the work queues and performance of all direct reports, to ensure the department’s key performance indicators are met. The Managed Care Supervisor will also perform the duties of their staff as needed. This position will serve as the first line of communication with the practices/departments to answer questions, troubleshoot issues, and improve processes/workflows. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a key member of a multi-disciplinary patient care team, which includes physicians who represent both medical and surgical disciplines, residents, nurses, dieticians, and other clinical and business support staff. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides direct advanced practice nursing care for patients who experience weight management issues. They assess patient and family needs medically, pre- operatively, and when medical weigh loss intervention is necessary, post- operatively. They develop a plan of care, implement and evaluate the care delivered. The Nurse Practitioner serves as caregiver for patients enrolling in medical weight loss management. They act as a communication link between the referring providers, patient, their family, and the care team. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a continuous advocate for patients and their families. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) practices in accord with professional standards, core values, and with a commitment to service excellence.
