The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute (KCI) is seeking a highly qualified and motivated faculty member in a quantitative cancer research discipline to serve as the Director of the Cancer Data Science Shared Resource (CDSSR). The KCI has experienced exponential growth in research scope, strategic partnerships, clinical trials portfolio, faculty recruitment, and multiple centers of excellence, including the Center for Biomedical Data Science (CBDS). The rapid co-evolution of both technology and computational methods led to data-driven approaches becoming indispensable for basic, clinical, translational, and population research at KCI.
The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.
It is anticipated the position will be made up of the following components: Clinical and In-Patient Service at the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, Tualatin. Teaching and Research/Academic pursuits may occur.

- Conducts psychosocial evaluations of patients/families and significant others including, but not limited to the following: adjustment to medical or health condition; care coordination; mental health status; adjustment/compliance to treatment process; substance usage; child and elder abuse/neglect assessments; domestic violence issues; cognitive status (including potential guardian issues); and patient/family resources.
- Provides crisis intervention and supportive short-term counseling to patients/families and significant others as necessary to meet immediate psycho-social needs including, but not limited to: Trauma/Emergency Department/ On Call/ Family Notification, CODE Response (family intervention);...
- Provides therapeutic interventions including but not limited to: airway management, therapeutic gases and ventilator management, newborn resuscitation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Performs diagnostic procedures including but not limited to: sampling of arterial blood, bedside spirometry, spontaneous ventilatory parameters, point of care testing.
- Therapeutic modalities and communication approached with reference to age specific needs of the patient, including Doernbecher Children's Hospital Family Centered Care Program.
