As a member of the Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics the Clinical Geneticist will report to the Department Chair, and will be responsible for duties in the areas outlined. This position is under the supervision of Wayne Clark, MD.  The Oregon Stroke Center Clinical Research Coordinator is responsible for initiation and maintenance of complex therapeutic interventional clinical research focused in vascular neurology. This position may assist with other studies for different neurological subspecialties. This includes: - Acute stroke call coverage for after-hours study enrollments including - Assisting on-call doctor with identifying inclusion and exclusion criteria - Randomizing study patient - Coming to the hospital to collect specimens and ensure study protocol is met - Troubleshooting any issues that may come up - Study initiation including - Create study binders using protocol given by the sponsor - Ensure study specific orders are available in Epic - Collaborate with the Regulatory Coordinator and Financial Coordinator - Order necessary labs and equipment from sponsor - Arrange site initiation visit with sponsor - Train all other study coordinators and research assistants on protocol - Recruitment activities - Study assessments and patient visits - CRF documentation and data entry - Maintain certificates as specified by each sponsor - Coordinating care for patients enrolled in multiple clinical research protocols - Collaborates with various OHSU departments to complete protocol required tests and procedures. The Patient Access Service Specialist (PAS) is the first point of contact in-person and via phone for the Department of Neurology. The PAS provides high quality customer service to both internal and external customers. The work environment is both on campus and remote work supporting a call center and front office duties. This position involves serving on a rotational basis to assist with the front office check-in and check-out desk. PAS tasks include, but are not limited to, gathering and recording required information about patients, providing specific customer service including screening for financial eligibility, confirming health insurance coverage and individuals’ obligations, obtaining necessary authorizations for care, scheduling appointments, answering a high volume incoming phone line, taking detailed messages including refill requests and routing to the appropriate person, and assisting patients in an office or clinic setting. This position requires an attention to detail, strong ability to multi-task, and exceptional customer service skills.  

This position is under the supervision of the Chief of Psychology, IDD, with support from the Director of the OHSU Autism Program. Primary duties include provision of direct assessment and intervention services for children and their families, with a focus on ASD (e.g., differential diagnosis, team-based assessment, behavioral therapy, parent training). The clinician will also conduct and/or facilitate clinical research that supports the mission of the Division of Psychology, the mission of the IDD, and/or the mission of the Department of Pediatrics; provide instruction and supervision to predoctoral psychology interns who are participating in an American Psychological Association accredited internship program, psychology practicum students, and postdoctoral fellows; and provide outreach/consultation to the community, patients of Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, and OHSU staff and providers.  There are possible clinical leadership opportunities as a part of this position which would include serving as the Director of the Autism program.

Acts as primary receptionist and point of contact for CEI Genetics Clinical Trials.  Duties include checking patients in and out for appointments, answering the main phone line, monitoring the genetics clinical trial email inbox, triaging and transferring calls and emails, taking messages, greeting and directing visitors and patients.  Schedules research appointments through EPIC and Outlook, if ever necessary and as indicated by study coordinators and or PI’s.  Obtains prior medical records, if appropriate.  Creates a medical record, if needed.  Arranges stretchers, wheelchairs, and interpreters when necessary, and accommodates other specific needs whenever possible.  Mails patient information packets.  Obtains and prepares OHSU medical records before scheduled appointments. Leader a.  Uses an evidence-based decision making process to determine the patient’s priority goals and care activities in relation to: i.  Nursing’s independent scope of practice (safety, comfort, hygiene, restorative measures, and health promotion) ii.  The interdisciplinary plan of care iii.  Documenting decision making in the patient’s plan of care and hand-off  communication b.  Protects and advocates for patient safety, health and wellbeing: i.  Communicates and formally reports concerns and/or seeks change where individual or institutional behavior in the practice setting jeopardizes the well-being of patient, families, or team members. (e.g. Patient Safety Net report, chain of command). ii.  Speaks up and intervenes when an individual’s actions or practice is not in alignment with patient safety. The nurse speaks directly to the responsible party, and takes responsibility to support those who identify potentially questionable practice. c.  Keeps the patient as the focus when exercising judgment in accepting responsibilities, seeking consultation, and assigning activities to others who carry out nursing care: i.  Assigns or delegates tasks based on the needs and condition of the patient, potential for harm, stability of the patient’s condition, complexity of the task, predictability of the outcome, availability to monitor and supervise, and competency of the individual being delegated to. ii.  Allocates resources based on identified patient and family needs iii.  Speaks up immediately about concerns regarding assigned responsibilities   III.  Practitioner a.  Acts as a patient advocate by partnering with the person, family, significant others, and caregivers, as appropriate, to implement and evaluate the plan of care.  Assures that the plan is aligned with the patient’s physical, spiritual, and psychosocial goals, initiating changes as appropriate. b.  Delegates and supervises tasks consistent with other caregivers’ scope of practice, adhering to standards, regulations, and role expectations including self-care and collaborative teamwork. c.  Delivers care in a manner that preserves and protects patient autonomy, privacy, dignity, confidentiality and rights. d.  Implements direct and indirect nursing care consistent with evidence-based practices, hospital policies and procedures, and scope and standards of practice.   IV.  Knowledge Transfer a.  Develops a therapeutic relationship with patients and families, effectively transfers information about disease, health and recovery, Engages patients and families in decision-making about the plan of care.   Evaluates capacity for self-care and addresses concerns about transition to next level of care, different healthcare facility or home. b.  Communicates evaluation of patient’s stability, progress, discharge plan and recommendation for continuity of the medical and nursing plan to other members of the health care team, including through accurate and timely documentation of the patient’s electronic record. c.  Effectively transfers knowledge to other members of the team to support the safety of their practice (e.g. educating students, precepting, in-services, giving and receiving feedback during handoffs).  Seeks knowledge from other members of the team to ensure safety of own practice.  Engages in collaborative and effective decision-making with other members of the team while maintaining caring and compassionate relationships.

- Course Administration (40% of duties) - Advises pre-nursing students. - Works closely with the Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) admissions departments. - Participates in OIT student recruitment events. - Assists with community outreach events focused on student recruitment. - Assists with advising and monitoring current students each quarter regarding progress toward program completion requirements. - Maintains student files. - Meeting Management (30% of duties) - Plans and coordinates meetings with team members, stakeholders, and students as needed. - Books and verifies the availability of meeting spaces as needed. - Drafts agendas for meetings and distributes them for review before meetings. - Records detailed minutes of all faculty/staff meetings and other meetings as requested. - From meeting agendas, develops to-do lists and procedures for teams and individuals as needed. - Events and Hosting (10% of duties) - Assists with planning and implementing school-related events. - Public Relations and Cross-team Partnerships (10% of duties) - Maintains relationships, communicates, and coordinates with all critical stakeholders in the school, university, and community (e.g., Campus Associate Deans, rural Campus personnel, faculty, students, telehealth, preceptors, alumni, clinical partner administrators, and liaisons). - Program Administration (10% of duties) - Coordinates with team members and partners to arrange day and overnight travel. - Books rental cars, flights, hotels, and dining reservations/catering as needed. - With the finance/grants team, ensures team members adhere to all travel policy procedures set forth by OHSU and the federal government. - Assists with processing per diems and reimbursements upon return.
