The Student Nurse (SN) provides a variety of nursing care duties in accordance with the duties, knowledge and skills identified in this functional statement. The SN provides direct care for ambulatory dermatology patients according to established OHSU policies. Following all customer service standards as outlined above. - Operating Room Responsibilities: Provide operating room and procedural assistance to Bariatric, Vascular and General surgeons as determined by the Division Head or their designee(s). Includes assistance in performing laparoscopic and robotic surgeries to include, bariatric sleeves gastrectomy, gastric bypass, duodenal switch, foregut, colorectal, and vascular procedures. Direct Patient Care - The social work supervisor provides direct patient care, including but not limited to: psychosocial assessment, care planning, mandated reporting, and concrete resource needs.  - The supervisor provides crisis intervention and care coordination to patients and families as necessary to meet immediate psychosocial needs. - The supervisor provides patient advocacy and associated services to patient/family and other involved agencies/parties. - The supervisor assesses patient and family support needs regarding assistance in the Care - Management including transportation, housing, clothing, and chemical dependency/mental health resources. - The supervisor maintains accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities per department policies. Leadership - The supervisor provides strategic leadership and direction for assigned Social Work Staff.  They are expected to keep abreast of trends in medical social work, with special attention to academic health center settings. They participate in national and local professional social work associations and networks and encourages other staff to do so as well. The supervisor is expected to be aware of productivity trends and innovative models of care that optimize the use of social work services. - The supervisor assists with the creation of SBARs and ProForma in relation to initiatives as assigned.   - The supervisor collaborates with other members of the Care Management team to create interdisciplinary programming that optimizes patient and family health.  The supervisor works with their social work team to understand resources to network with other community resources, thereby optimizing program opportunities as much as possible.  - The supervisor makes decisions regarding use of department financial resources appropriately.  - Supervisor can approve up to $1000.00 in charity.   - The supervisor regularly participates in department meetings and leads meetings of their assigned team.  - The supervisor is expected to be current regarding OHSU standards, policies and procedures.  They are responsible for conveying these requirements to staff and ensuring compliance in a timely fashion. - The supervisor participates in the clinical supervision of staff and students and encourages others on their staff to do so as well. - The supervisor participates in on-call responsibilities to ensure appropriate staffing, provide clinical decision-making and problem-solving support, and approve resource allocation during non-business hours. - The supervisor works with other social work supervisors and managers to ensure social work coverage for Care Management.  - The supervisor represents Care Management social work at department meetings as assigned by the social work manager. - The Supervisor is responsible for daily operations oversight. - The Supervisor is involved with other SW Supervisors in the maintainance of Social Work Grand Rounds.  - The Supervisor will monitor processess, procedures and standard work as well as work to create new standard work.   Staff Supervision: - The supervisor oversees the delivery of social work by their assigned Social Workers and provides direct supervision. They recruit, evaluates and hires social work staff in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. They ensure that the social workers meet minimum qualifications. The supervisor arranges for new staff orientation and ensures that all existing staff are current on required staff education and annual competencies. The supervisor conducts all performance management activities including coaching and progressive discipline.  - The supervisor arranges for and facilitates team social work staff meetings.  The supervisor provides ongoing guidance and supervision of assigned social workers, giving them both ongoing encouragement and constructive feedback as required. The supervisor conducts periodic formal staff assessments and annual peformance reviews. The supervisor is expected to be knowledgeable about and to follow AFSCME contracts and associated work rules.  The supervisor advocates for Social Work staff to participate in professional development at a local, regional, and national level.  - The supervisor coordinates sick calls and vacation requests. The supervisor supervises their assigned social work staff.

Collaborate with EPM for clinical simulations and PRN educational themes based on chart audits, PSI’s, and concerns.
