We are seeking a Research Assistant 2 interested in contributing to research aimed at understanding the neurobiological risk factors related the development of substance use disorders. The chosen candidate will support ongoing research examining how individual differences in how a person feels and acts when under the influence of alcohol relates to substance use over time.   This position primarily requires interacting with study participants via email, phone/video chat, and in-person in order to determine study eligibility and collect data. The position also requires some detail-oriented computer work, including participant scheduling and data entry. Evening and weekend availability is required. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, has a proven track-record of learning new skills quickly, and is enthusiastic about contributing to the research mission. They will also assist with administrative-related tasks for the project, including data analyses, data entry and export, and other general office duties in support of the goals of the study. IMAGING - Provides quality images with accuracy and efficiency, using optimal skills and knowledge of all equipment. - Technologists will be trained in all general radiology exams/areas so that they are able to rotate through the department based on workflow needs. - Utilize the VIP transportation system to arrange for patient delivery. - Positions patient for diagnostic radiology exams according to department procedures, training, and machine requirements with a high regard for the safety and care of the patient. - Operates radiology equipment, determines and sets exposure factors, sets technique utilizing all relevant factors to ensure accurate and quality images with minimal and acceptable repeat rates. - Uses computer image processing, as needed to select, process, optimize and archive images to PACS. - Completely tracks exams in the Radiology Information system. - Develops and presents images and related patient information to radiologist for diagnosis. - Assists with patient transport by moving patients using standard procedures. - Assists in the training of Radiologic Technology Students, and adheres to dept. policy on supervision of student technologists. - The clinical director of the division of pediatric orthopedics, and Doernbecher Surgeon-in-Chief will work with you to develop your clinical and operative schedule. Your duties will include inpatient, outpatient and surgical service activities for general orthopedic surgical services at Doernbecher Childrens Hospital, with a specialty focus in your area of interest as agreed with the Department Chair and Doernbecher Surgeon-in-Chief. Experience and interest in all aspect of pediatric orthopedic surgery, with or without an interest in spine is accepted and appreciated. Call: This position will be expected to take call as assigned with other faculty on nights, weekends, and holidays. - Education. As OHSU is a teaching facility, instruction of medical students and residents in the clinical setting as well as through assigned lectures is required. Teaching assignments will be given from the Director of Education for the Department of Orthopedics. - Research. There are resources available for start-up research and on-going support. - Administration. An exciting opportunity in the field of immunology and cancer immunotherapy has been created in the laboratory of Dr. Amy Moran in the Cell, Developmental and Cancer Biology Department at Oregon Health and Science University. Dr. Moran’s research program is currently focused on understanding how sex hormones shape immune responses in healthy and diseased settings. The lab’s goals are to determine the microenvironmental impacts of hormones and the response to these hormones by T cells on immunity in health and disease. We peform translational research partnering with clinicians to improve cancer therapy outcomes. We seek to identify novel mechanisms of cancer therapy failure with the hope that we can then drug these pathways to improve immunity.   This position is under the general supervision of the chair of the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology and under the direct supervision of Dr. Amy Moran.   We are looking for a Research Assistant 2 to provide support to ongoing lab research projects. The candidate will assist investigators with some or all of the following: preparation of research tools and reagents, maintaining lab equiptment and supplies, processing cell and tissue samples from mice and humans, animal husbandry and mouse colony management, clinical trial biorepository organization, purchasing and expense reconciliation, EPIC chart reviews, consenting patients to studies, and other general laboratory duties.   The candidate should have a scientific background, experience and general knowledge in all aspects of cell biology, tissue culture, and ideally flow cytometry. Coursework in immunology and exposure to immunological research techniques is preferred. Must be able to prioritize a variety of tasks, and be able to thrive in a team-oriented environment. The Center is seeking an experienced individual to provide data management, administration and research support across a portfolio of large projects. The position’s primary role will include intake, management, and organization of the administrative and survey-based datasets used in the Center’s research projects. Specific tasks will include upkeep and oversite of a remote server environment used for data storage and analysis, the secure receipt of data updates, communication with select data suppliers, and creation and oversight of codebooks and other data use documentation. Successful candidates will also have significant experience in using statistical software programs (e.g., SAS, R, or STATA), particularly focused on the management of large datasets and the curation of databases for storage in SQL. Further, successful candidates will have strong written communications skills and a demonstrated ability drafting data documentation, and overseeing its use across myriad researchers and projects. Candidates should have experience working with and supporting multiple research teams. Imaging - Provides quality images, using optimal skills and knowledge of equipment. - Performs quality diagnostic studies with accuracy and efficiency. - Positions patients for MRI examinations with a high regard for their safety, care, and comfort. - Prescreens patients and all related personnel in regard to MRI compatibility standards for safe entry into the static magnetic field.  If there is any question regarding MRI compatibility, a Radiologist shall be consulted. - Understand the differences in Implant Compatibility between field strengths. - Understands MR physics with the ability to implement imaging parameters on a case-by-case basis.  Understands normal anatomical cross-sectional images.  Must be able to decide on the completeness and quality of the patient’s studies when working independently of a Radiologist. - Prepares and instructs patients for diagnostic study using age-ppropriate communication skills. - Optimizes each image during the examination to obtain the highest quality study with the least discomfort to the patient.  - Must be able to perform all ranges of exams after completion of technical competencies. - Demonstrates competent knowledge and skills in the use of all MRI scanners and peripheral equipment within the MRI Department.  - Continues to stay current in regard to new MRI technology, hardware and software upgrades. - Knowledge of compatibility and safety of equipment used for patient care inside the scan suite. (O2, monitoring, wheelchairs, stretchers and IV stands). Documentation - Verifies complete documentation of all pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service to customers. - Verifies and initials orders in patient chart. - Responsible for correctly identify patients by complying with Imaging dept. Patient Identification Policy. - Labels images completely with patient demographics, position or other required documentation. - Follows through with all aspects of scanning duties in order to provide efficient and timely completion of examinations with correct data entry, follows radiologist protocol, utilizes correct scanner protocol, begin and complete exams with correct billing and verification that images are in PACS. Personal & Patient Care and Safety - Provides for personal and patient care and safety using professional judgment in accordance with written standards to avoid injury to self and others. - Responsible to adhere to all established JCAHO National Patient Safety Goals, and report errors or unsafe conditions to supervisor and the OHSU Event Reporting (Patient Safety Net). - Follows universal precautions for blood and body fluids, protecting patients and staff. - Works in a safe manner by maintaining a clean work environment. - Reports injuries to supervisor. - Starts I.V.’s on patients and injects contrast material. - Proper use of sterile technique supplies and proper labeling technique. - Uses prescribed dosage of contrast. - Screens patients and ancillary staff for appropriate and safe access to the MRI suite safety zone.

The Division Head will be responsible for overseeing the clinical, research, teaching and advocacy missions within the Division of Reproductive Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. In particular, the creation and development of programs to incorporate and strengthen the biopsychosocial model of women's health within all the programs of the Department as a key role. The Division Head will analyze the success of these programs and refine the offerings as needed as well as provide oversight of other reproductive psychiatry and behavioral health professionals in the Department to achieve the identified goals of the program. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the Department Chair in furtherance of the University's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. As a member of the faculty, the Division Head will provide clinical care to OHSU patients and affiliated hospitals and clinics; establish and maintain a program of scholarly research activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes, detection, and treatment of mental health conditions and treatments; teach medical students, house staff and the regional medical community; engage in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups as approved by the Department Chair; and participate in the administration of the School of Medicine if appointed. Specific duties: - Provide effective leadership to the Division and its faculty in accordance with OHSU and Department policies and procedures. - As a member of the Department of Ob/Gyn leadership team, the Division Head will also provide input into the vision and direction of the Department. - Create, in concert with administrative and faculty leadership, long and short-range strategic planning for the Division and the Department. - As the Division's leader, this faculty member will manage and direct the Division's operating budget in a manner consistent with Department and University goals. - The Division Head is expected to participate as assigned in Department and institutional administrative committees. - Serve as a mentor and leader in research for the Division. - Responsibility for outpatient services, to include faculty staffing assignments and the continued development and success of a faculty-based Reproductive Psychiatry and Behavioral Health practice. - Responsibility for the further development of the preclinical, clinical, postgraduate (CME and Resident) and allied health educational programs.
