A Research Assistant 2 will provide support in a non-human primate systems neuroscience laboratory with a focus on computational modeling of complex learning and decision making and how it relates to the activity of motivational neural circuits. The research technician will work closely with the Principal Investigator. The technician will be expected to work autonomously and oversee daily behavioral testing and training of animals, husbandry as necessary, assist with stereotaxic surgeries and neurophysiological recording procedures, train research technicians, preparation of reagents, and the preparation of written reports and when necessary regulatory documentation.

The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.   Clinical: This position serves as a Structural Cardiologist in the Interventional section. Duties include outpatient clinic, inpatient cardiology and cardiology consult service rotations. Additional duties will include in imaging and echocardiography. Other areas of clinical duties may be available depending on need and interest of applicant.   Education: OHSU is a teaching institution and as a faculty member, you are expected to provide mentorship and direction to students, residents, fellows and staff. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a faculty member credentialed and privileged as a Physician Assistant (PA) or an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN). The APP is a member of the OHSU & Hillsboro Medical Center (HMC) Professional Staff practicing in accordance with the respective bylaws. The APP shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The APP is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU & Hillsboro Medical Center policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice. Duties of the position include:   Clinical Activities:   - Evaluates and manages patients for wound care and ensures delivered care meets current standards of practice. - Demonstrates competency in the position of wound care including assessment and debridement. - Participates in the Quality Improvement Program to optimize quality service and maintain a high level of patient satisfaction. - Serves as a patient advocate, initiating action to provide continuity of care outside of the facility setting. Operations:   - Maintains and retains appropriate patient records, claims and correspondence as it relates to quality assurance procedures, billing & collections, and management reporting systems. - Ensures documentation is complete relative to the care provided. - Ensures signatures on Superbills and verifies appropriate diagnostic codes are marked. - Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations. - Performs designated administrative duties and maintains appropriate records and claims.  Other:   - Develops advanced knowledge of wound care and dermatology. - Maintains corporate confidentiality pertaining to financial arrangements and information, marketing efforts and techniques, policies and procedures, and operational strategies.  - Demonstrates the ability to modify treatment approach and evaluation of effectiveness relative to age-specific variables when appropriate. - Participates in education, research and leadership activities. - Participates in professional organizations related to wound care. - Maintains CEUs as required by State of license. - Maintains and keeps current all licenses, permits, registrations and certifications. - Performs designated administrative duties and other duties assigned as necessary.  

This position is part of the management team, requiring knowledge of international, federal, state and local rules, regulations, and guidelines. A doctorate degree or doctorate of veterinary medicine degree and the ability to understand a wide variety of research protocols in sufficient detail to provide oversight/training of staff is required. This position will conduct surgeries/procedures and write detailed descriptions/records in support of the project to the principal investigator. The incumbent has a diverse range of responsibilities, which includes the following: Support the Head of the IDR with developing and coordinating nonhuman primate (NHP) infectious disease study plans; formulating budgets for NHP studies; and preparing and maintaining Institutional Animal Care and Use and Institutional Biosafety protocols for NHP studies.  Additionally, the staff scientist will prepare Animal Resources and Research Support (ARRS) Animal Planning and Animal Assignment forms; coordinate/support NHP research protocols hosted by the Infectious Disease Resource (IDR); supervise technical staff; provide training for IDR technical staff; and provide technical expertise for surgical procedures and necropsies as appropriate for the individuals’ training.

The Assistant Staff Scientist will work on ongoing studies in non-hormonal contraception development and female fertility. Qualified candidates will hold a PhD in biology, physiology or equivalent, have a minimum of 3 years relevant post-doctoral work experience and possess a comprehensive understanding of molecular biology, immunology or microbiology. A strong background in reproduction or female reproductive tract, next generational sequencing methods is highly desirable. Competency in cell culture, flow cytometry or molecular biology techniques is essential. Applicants will be expected to develop skills related to RNA sequencing, high throughput screening and primate reproductive tract studies, working directly with NHPs for sedation and clinical monitoring, behavioral observations, biological and post-mortem sample collection. Applicants should be able to work in a team dynamic, carry out research unsupervised, keep up-to-date on relevant literature in the field, provide meaningful data reports for presentation at scientific meetings, prepare manuscripts, and assist with grant writing and laboratory management.

Specific duties:  The candidate will be expected to establish a high quality research program, establish collaborations as part of a collegial group of basic and clinical researchers, supervise a laboratory team, successfully apply for external grant support, publish manuscripts in high quality journals, and participate in occasional seminars, teaching and mentoring of interns.   Specific areas of research to be given highest priority would include:  1) Development of novel IRD disease models in rodents and primates or using human IPSCs; 2) Development of novel therapeutic agents for macular degeneration and IRDs including but not limited to: small molecule agents, gene augmentation, anti-sense oligonucleotides, gene editing and cell-based therapies.   The candidate would join a group of highly successful and collaborative researchers and clinician-scientists in the field of retinal disease.  The Casey Eye Institute has extraordinary facilities and resources for research in this area, including the Ophthalmic Genetics Division, a Clinical Trial center currently conducting a dozen IRD clinical trials, the Center for Ophthalmic Optics and Lasers that includes the pioneers in OCT and OCT angiography imaging, high level facilities for small animal research, and close collaboration with the Oregon National Primate Research Center which has state-of-the-art facilities for ophthalmic research in nonhuman primates and the availability of naturally-occurring and gene-edited IRD models.

The Appointee will be expected to have a strong commitment to developing the practice into a vibrant clinical and academic operation, which is successful from both a professional and business perspective. - Be available for teaching activities.

The duties of this position revolve around teaching, research, and clinical activities. The teaching duties of the position involve participating in the education and training of medical and nursing students, house staff, and the regional medical community. The faculty member will be expected to make a didactic presentation at the Division’s Grand Rounds at least four times per year. The second component of the position involves establishing and maintaining scholarly research activity directed toward the improved understanding of the causes, detection, and treatment of diseases. The clinical component of the position involves providing clinical care to patients at the University Hospitals and Clinics, as well as affiliated hospitals and clinics, and engaging in public service through consultative activities in the appointee’s specialty with non-University groups. This position will maintain a broad reconstructive practice focusing on general plastic and reconstructive surgery including: free flap reconstruction for breast, lymphedema surgery, head and neck, trauma, lower extremity reconstruction and wound care.

This position is under the supervision of the Chair of the Department of Dermatology. The position supports the missions, goals, and objectives of OHSU encompassing teaching, research, outreach, and public service. Research opportunities will be under the direct supervision of Sancy Leachman, MD, Ph.D. Responsibilities include providing leadership and conducting independent research, mentorship of junior members of the laboratory including students, technicians, and post-doctoral fellows, manuscript preparation, and grant application preparation. It is expected that independent funding will be sought. This position participates in department affairs, contributing to curriculum development, and other responsibilities as determined by the department.

Provide electrolysis teaching, consultation and treatment in the outpatient setting. Primary electrolysis site will be genital areas. This includes, but is not limited to: independently seeing patients for consultation, new patient and return visits, and being available to take all patient calls regarding questions; assisting clinic support staff with patient paperwork and questions. Provide education to medical students, residents, staff and patients in the area of electrology.   Experience working with transgender patient population preferred. Must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize; ability to be a self-starter and organized; ability to work as a team member and also independently; must possess a positive and enthusiastic attitude, an eagerness to learn the background in plastic surgery, particularly gender affirming surgery and breast cancer reconstruction, possess excellent communication skills (verbal, written and active listening).  

Clinical:  - Procedures in the EP lab, inpatient consults, managing the inpatient EP service in conjunction with APPs and fellows, EP clinic, supervising device clinic, and reading ECGs and ambulatory monitors, as well as developing and growing specific areas of clinical interest.  - Additionally, there will be outreach opportunities, as assigned by the chiefs of EP and cardiology.  This position will also share in the EP call coverage, as well as the teaching of EP and cardiology fellows, residents, and medical students. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.  The Advanced Practice Provider (APP- NP or PA) serving as the Neuro-Oncology APP is a faculty member credentialed and privileged to serve as a licensed independent practitioner and is a member of the OHSU Professional Staff practicing in accordance with the respective bylaws.  The Neuro-Oncology APP has the responsibility to be scheduled and/or allocated to Neuro-Oncology department for medical management of their acute care patients. Additionally, the Neuro-Oncology APP is responsible to partner with the patient, family, pharmacist, and nurse case manager to impact timely and effective discharges and patient flow; impact patient and family experience through communication and education; mentor residents, clinical nurses and others; promote an interdisciplinary approach to care; and support new processes to improve patient outcomes. The Neuro-Oncology APP delivers care to both inpatients and outpatients.  In addition to key job responsibilities, qualifications and other job requirements listed below, the Neuro-Oncology APP is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.  The AGACNP/ ACNP shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the universities missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The AGACNP/ ACNP is expected to comply with the scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice. The AGACNP/ ACNP delivers healthcare services to individuals within the scope of their license, provides advanced education to students, peers and others; and, may contribute to new knowledge and/or technology by conducting or participating in scholarship.

Key Responsibilities & Performance Standards Technical Researh: Independently conduct technical laboratory research to assess ploidy and haploidy in mammalian gametes, embryos and stem cells. These responsibilities include: collect oocytes and conduct assisted reproductive techniques in laboratory models, utilization of novel embryo manipulation techniques including somatic cell nuclear transfer; isolation and characterization of blastomeres, ES cells and iPS cells, produce chimeric and transgenic animals, day to day maintenance of embryo and cell cultures, records and laboratory analysis by molecular, histological and immunocytochemical methods.   Data Collection/Analysis/Record Keeping:  Collect and analyze scientific data pertinent to the research projects. Manage and maintain detailed animal records and all research related information in an easily identifiable manner for current and historical documentation. Report Preparation and Literature Research: Prepare reports containing analytical, descriptive, and evaluative content that will be submitted for publication or for contribution to grant applications, progress reports, presentations at national and international meetings, etc. Conduct research of literature and database analysis. Personnel Supervision: Serve as lead-person for laboratory research assistants; train staff in research techniques and protocols; delegate tasks and oversee work of students and other support staff.   Material Presentation: Present research findings to fellow investigators and collaborative scientists; attend professional meetings.  

A CRNA is a member of the OHSU Professional Staff practicing in accordance with the respective bylaws. The CRNA shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The CRNA is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.   Clinical Service: Provides anesthesia care within the care team model commensurate with education, licensure, certification, and within limits of experience and expertise.   Scholarly Activities: Participates in clinical research projects as approved by the APOM Vice Chair for Research, conducted throughout the perioperative period. Participates in ongoing APOM CQI activities as directed by the Chair or appropriate Vice Chair.   Educational Activities: Responsible for the didactic and clinical training of  learners,  as approved by the APOM Vice Chair for Education and CRNA site director, throughout the Dept APOM, which may include paramedic students, flight nurses, nursing staff, Residents and Fellows form departments outside of anesthesiology, Registered Student Nurse Anesthetists and administrative and support staff.   Administrative Activities: May participate in additional departmental or hospital administration as approved by the chair, supervising Vice Chair or Chief CRNA.

The Staff Physician is the primary medical/clinical leader of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team, and provides psychiatric and medical care to patients under his/her care. The Unit Physician is responsible for the admission and discharge of patients to the Unit, psychiatric and physical examinations, formulations of diagnosis and treatment plans, and performing clinical treatments directly as well as monitoring clinical treatments done by others. Specific duties include performing psychiatric, physical and neurological examinations, writing orders for patient care, conducting meetings of the ward Treatment Team to prepare individual patient Treatment Plans and giving clinical leadership to services that implement them. The Unit Physician will collaborate with the Unit Director to provide leadership to the Treatment Team in formulating and implementing plans for operation of the ward therapeutic environment, and will provide direct service to patients such as group and individual counseling. The Unit Physician will complete the medical record in accordance with requirements of Medical Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations, and hospital policies, prepare correspondence communicating findings from patient evaluations to hospital administration, judges, PSRB, and attorneys. The Unit Physician will serve on medical staff committees, participate in peer review, quality assurance, and utilization review activities, assist with training and continuing education of Hospital Staff, participate in continuing education, maintain qualifications to perform techniques of basic life support (CPR), and attend medical staff meetings. In addition to assigned unit responsibilities, physicians shall participate in mutually agreed upon reasonable activities in community and hospital settings of direct interest to OHSU and DHS. The primary work site will be the Salem Campus of the Oregon State Hospital.   OHSU is a teaching facility and you may be expected to teach medical students and residents in the clinical setting as well as through assigned lectures to be given during the course of the year. You will receive your teaching assignments from the Director of Education.   There are resources available for start-up research and on-going support. Faculty interested in doing research may apply for departmental research assistance and non-clinical time through the Director of Research.   Administrative and other duties may be assigned based upon department needs and your areas of expertise and interest. There will be opportunities to participate in departmental management and to serve on institutional committees.
