The Knight Cardiovascular Institute Clinical Senior Research Assistant (Research Coordinator) is responsible for various duties related to clinical trials. The research coordinator will Identify potential subjects through chart review, discussion with investigator or other mechanisms; assists PI in the identification and eligibility of new protocol subjects; schedules, orders, communicates assessments and appointments.  They are responsible for trial implementation for all trials that fall under their specific discipline.  The Research Coordinator is also the primary liaison for patients receiving experimental research procedures on a clinical trial and is responsible for the triage of patient needs and identification, reporting of, and follow-up of adverse events.  They have a strong understanding of the connection and differences between clinical care and protocol visits conducted for research subjects.    The research coordinator will have a very strong understanding of research regulations, reporting timelines, and quality data abstraction for research purposes.  This position will primarily support our Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy research team within the division of Cardiology, they may be reassigned secondary duties to support other sections within the Cardiovascular Medicine Clinical Trials Unit and Knight Cardiovascular Institute. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.   This position reports to (supervisor): Craig McDougall, MD, Primary Care Section Head                                                      Katie Bensching, MD, Division Chief   The duties of this position include:   - Serve as a Primary care clinician in the Faculty Practice  (to include continuity care, as well as interim or same day care)  - Opportunities to care for inpatient general Medicine patients - Participate in clinical based teaching of OHSU students and internal medicine residents, such as resident continuity clinic precepting.     The Division of General Internal Medicine & Geriatrics is actively building an integrated team practice model for delivering high quality medical care and service to the patients we serve, including transitional care of hospitalized patients. The successful candidate must have demonstrated ability to work with a team of health care providers and collaborate to achieve clinical care goals.  Our practice also includes innovative models for delivering structured care to populations of patients with chronic conditions. Candidates with an interest in and experience with chronic care models of health care, coordination of care of complex patients in various settings, and continuous practice improvement will receive priority consideration. Our practice is recognized by the State of Oregon as a Tier 4 Patient Centered Primary Care Home and a Comprehensive Primary Care Plus clinic site.    This position will include continuity ambulatory practice and potentially interim care for the practice. Clinical care duties will be the equivalent of 7 half days per week.  Evening clinic hours will be expected at a 1-2 days a week.  Communication skills and the ability to collaborate with other clinicians in our practice is essential. Inpatient work will be assigned as available at OHSU or its partner institutions.   Faculty in the Division of General Internal Medicine & Geriatrics participate actively in teaching medical students, residents, fellows, and each other. Opportunities for teaching abound and participation is encouraged and valued. The faculty member will be expected to participate in continuing education, professional and faculty development and scholarship, as directed by his or her department. Compensation for this position will include a base academic salary, paid through the academic department, plus a clinical salary from an incentive system based on the success and productivity for their clinical work at OHSU campus, as well as personal initiative.

- Rounds regularly, 3 times per 8 hour shift, to inpatient ICU floors. Collaborates with clinical staff to assess patient needs before each task (lift or reposition), including type of lift to be performed, condition of patient, and state of patient’s physical disability. Additionally, they will see up to four same day/scheduled patients in our infusion clinic. Schedule: 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, weekdays, weekend, and holidays included.   Outpatient Genitourinary (GU) APP: The GU APP manages patient care for genitourinary cancers which include the following: Prostate, renal cell carcinoma, bladder, testicular, and penile cancers. Treatments for these various cancer types have a broad range including hormonal therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, oral targeted therapies, and radio pharmaceuticals. The APP is also responsible for managing side effects from treatments and seeing patients on clinical trials. This APP will also attend research meetings to discuss trials and clinical trial patient related issues. Additionally, this APP may intermittently provide oversight of the infusion unit, responding to acute infusion reactions and urgent medical issues.   Schedule: Four 10-hour days per week. Schedule to be determined upon hiring.     Outpatient APP with focus in gastrointestinal (GI) oncology :  We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider to join our GI Oncology team. This vital role involves providing specialized healthcare to patients with gastrointestinal cancers and collaborating closely with a team of oncologists and other medical professionals. This is an outpatient position in a clinic on the South Waterfront of OHSU campus. The position would be for clinic coverage 4 days per week (schedule to be decided depending on clinic need at time of hire) with 10% of time devoted to involvement in clinical research. We are expanding our general radiology services as part of the Community Division of OHSU at Hillsboro Medical Center. Although general radiology coverage is expected, we are looking to complement our sub-specialty trained team, which includes Neuro, Body, MSK, and Cardiothoracic imaging trained radiologists.   Candidates should be comfortable reading all radiology modalities, including CT, US, and MRI as well as some mammography and PET scans; more specialized modality cases are typically read by the respective sub-specialty trained members of the practice. Light general radiology procedures are also performed, such as CT- and ultrasound-guided drainages/biopsies, arthrograms/joint injections, and breast biopsies. A separate IR service covers more specialized interventional procedures. Case mix is representative of a suburban community-based radiology practice. We are a shift-based practice with mostly 4-day work weeks (when fully staffed, 1-2 non-clinical days will be typical). All shift types are equally and equitably distributed across partners. Hours are generally 8 am to 4:30 pm with overnight nighthawk coverage from 6 pm to 8 am. Call is one in five with week-day call shift from 8 am to 6 pm and weekend call shifts also from 8 am to 6 pm. Additionally, we provide home workstations to allow for teleworking or “work from home” options on weekday and week-end call shifts if desired. The team covers one hospital and one imaging center in Hillsboro, Oregon.

IMAGING: - Provides quality images with accuracy and efficiency, using optimal skills and knowledge of all equipment. - Technologists will be trained in all general radiology exams/areas so that they are able to rotate through the department based on workflow needs. - Utilize the VIP transportation system to arrange for patient delivery. - Positions patient for diagnostic radiology exams according to department procedures, training, and machine requirements with a high regard for the safety and care of the patient. - Operates radiology equipment, determines and sets exposure factors, sets technique utilizing all relevant factors to ensure accurate and quality images with minimal and acceptable repeat rates. - Uses computer image processing, as needed to select, process, optimize and archive images to PACS. - Completely tracks exams in the Radiology Information system. - Develops and presents images and related patient information to radiologist for diagnosis. - Assists with patient transport by moving patients using standard procedures. - Assists in the training of Radiologic Technology Students, and adheres to dept. policy on supervision of student technologists.
