Patient Care Management - Responsible for coordinating and managing aspects of the patient's clinical care process. Works with the providers by providing support with medication refills and providers support to the patient and family. Responds to voice mail and email messages based on priority of patient process and as triaged by the RNs. Attends MD/department team meetings as appropriate. Responds to patient questions in Mychart, phone calls, emails, and faxes in regards to scheduling or care issues within scope.    Documentation/Data Management - Documents legibly, concisely and completely to ensure that others can accurately assess the status of patients' progress by reviewing that documentation. Moving samples and supplies between HSR and KDL. - Performs leukocyte cell counts using Sysmex 300, including daily QC using commercial standards and complete documentation of target values.  Assesses DNA/RNA sample quantity and quality as appropriate using Qubit/Qubit Flex and performs QC.  Create normalized DNA aliquots and manage long-term sample storage. - Maintain inventory of reagents and supplies for the laboratory.  Make and aliquot reagents used in the laboratory per protocol.  - Monitor temperatures for incubators, refrigerators, and freezers.  Monitor eye wash stations and diH2O purity. - Retrieve specimens and/or charts as needed by technologists and director.  Assist technologists and directors with miscellaneous tasks as requested.  Follows established safety procedures in all areas of the lab.

Collaborates with various OHSU departments to complete protocol-required tests and procedures, which may include the research pharmacy, Epic informatics team, clinical research billing office, and other areas.   Assists with billing review and charge reconciliation. Accurately applies investigators’ scientific data into a cohesive format for the protocol document and associated procedures that are consistent with internal and external policies and regulatory requirements. Coordinates projects with active management of expectations, timelines, and deliverables through facilitation and coordination of steps, which may include multiple clinical research protocols. Tracks and reports milestones. May assist leadership across multiple protocols to ensure appropriate and consistent project management, complex logistics, quality assurance, and participant safety. May lead data and regulatory audits of study conduct and data, emphasizing data security in concordance with federal, state, and local regulations.   Assists with trial start-up activities, including corresponding with the OHSU Institutional Review Board (IRB), eCRIS and ensuring all appropriate training and documentation is complete; recruiting, interviewing, and screening subjects for trials; following subjects throughout trial and follow-up period; ensuring all required data is collected and protocol is followed; reporting adverse reactions to trial sponsor and IRB, as appropriate; taking vital signs, performing ECGs, and drawing blood as required by the protocol; performing sample processing and shipping; performing inventory checks and maintaining trial supplies; entering data collected from subject visits into the appropriate system for clinical trials; assisting with regular reporting of study updates to IRB and subjects, as applicable; attend meetings as directed by clinical trials investigators; additional duties may be assigned by clinical trials investigators or the Manager. Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research): This position works with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to urogynecology patients. This position will require expertise in clinical practice and administration within the full range of urogynecology outpatient services. The spectrum of care includes but is not limited to: overactive bladder and incontinence, painful bladder/interstitial cystitis, prolapse not yet evaluated by Gynecologist (i.e. referrals from PCPs), constipation, recurrent UTIs, pessary fittings and maintenance, bladder instillations, urodynamics, Genitourinary syndrome of Menopause with support for NAMS certification, and sexual dysfunction.   Scholarly Activities (research/writing, abstracts, grant supported work, presentations, etc.): Like all OHSU faculty members, advanced practice providers are expected to have some scholarly activity, this may be limited to educating learners as outlined below, but may also include research, and other grant supported work or academic papers and presentations in disciplines related to their field of expertise. APP faculty members are expected to participate in clinical research as needed, often with the help of trained research support staff and senior faculty principal investigators.   Education Activities (include types of teaching and types of student taught): This position provides clinical education to fellows, residents, and medical students participating in OB/GYN rotations. As part of the multidisciplinary team charged with educating learners in the urogynecology environment this person would be expected to provide feedback and evaluation, both formally and informally, of learners working in urogynecology. This faculty member will provide education and feedback to students and trainees.   Administrative Activities: As an OHSU faculty member, this position will be required to participate in faculty meetings at the division and department level. All faculty members are expected to aid the division head and department chair in providing direction to the division and the department both on a day to day basis and as part of ongoing strategic planning and strategic planning.   Other Activities: APP faculty members may be called upon to serve on OHSU committees and in other activities as directed by the department chair or division head in furtherance of division, department, or OHSU goals and objectives.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a practitioner certified through the Oregon State Board of Nursing (NP) and authorized to practice within the parameters described in Division 50 of the Oregon Nurse Practice Act (Oregon Revised Statute Chapter 678) or is a Physician Assistant licensed to practice by the Oregon Medical Board (PA). The APP is authorized to prescribe medications according to the state and federal guidelines and laws.   The APP for the OHSU Spine Center and the Department of Neurological Surgery possesses specialized knowledge and skills in the care of patients with brain and spinal tumors, brain and spinal injuries, spinal disorders, cerebral aneurysms, and other neurological disorders. Overall responsibilities include accountability for planning, coordination, and delivery of clinical services. Overall responsibilities include inpatient care and clinical support operations for the Department of Neurological Surgery.
